Decorah Eagle webcam founder nominated for Citizens Medal

Bob Anderson, who brought the Decorah Eagles to the World's attention via the World's most watched live streaming video camera ever, and who almost single-handedly brought Peregrine Falcons back from near-extinction, passed away July 27th 2015. He is being nominated via petition for the Presidential Citizens Medal. One hundred thousand signatures are required by August 29, 2015.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bob last year, in Decorah. I and a couple of other eagle-watchers were parked, wondering where the one remaining free-flying juvenile might be. After fledging she had taken up residence at a county mulch-dumping station. Bob drove up and said "She's right over there", pointing to a telephone pole. Right in plain sight!

Thank you for your help!

I signed it.

Somewhat to my surprise, it accepts people like me who are not US citizens/residents.

It is sadly a dismal response to the petition. Only 1244 signatures so far.

Bob's Celebration of Life is looking gigantic! A shuttle service will be used because parking is quite limited at the Fish Hatchery. 1 to 3 thousand expected??!

There was maybe 200 people in attendance. Oh, the stories! John Dingley (RRP Board of Directors) spoke of a rubber hat experience with collecting Peregrine Falcon semen, Bob's nephews spoke of never knowing what type bird might be living in Uncle Bob's cellar, the new RRP Director John Howe spoke of learning from Bob that you never pass a dead rabbit or squirrel on the road without a plastic bag to take it home to your freezer.
