Stalite Ganglion block injection pain? and passing of my dog

First I want to say I havent been on much because my beloved dog was hit by a car and didnt make it.. He was a cute little beagle named Barney who we had for 9 years. Its so quiet around here now! and his absence is heartbreaking....

I had a stalite ganglion block around 3 weeks ago- it was a trial and now the doc wants to do a series of 5 (2 a week) I am really not sure if it worked because my hand wasnt that bad that day but I figured I will go for the series

The injection sight was painful for about 2 weeks ( kinda like a toothache pain- not horrible but annoying) Infact I can still touch the spot where the injection went now cause I can still feel it- Has anyone else had that experience. Also my pain swithces from one arm/hand to the other so I am not sure which one to do first

Thanks for any info

Debbie

Debbie

I am sooooo sorry about the loss of your dog. My animals are just like my children and when I've lost one, I grieve just like it were a human that I lost.
My sympathy goes out to you and your family.

Peace,
Lisa

Oh Debbie!

You lost your beaglebaby!! I'm so sorry, I know what it's like, been through it...the beagle I have now was given to me 3 weeks after my previous beagle died of cancer (old dog) - neighbours found her living in squalor with some other mangey curs in a scrap of yard...I hadn't planned on a new one - but I'm so, so, glad I took her in. Real character, so affectionate...I'm so sorry about it.

Hope the blocks work out OK, let us know,
all the best.

SGB's

Hi Debby,

I'm so sorry about your little dog! I know that heartbreak, too!

I've had 6 SGB's in 2004. I think I had one that stayed sore for awhile. But normally they don't. And the more I got the less pain I had (usually, anyway) in my hand.

Good Luck with them!

Hi Debbie,
I had 3 blocks done for my right side and they all worked. I can't remember being sore, just talked like Donald Duck for about 12 hours. When I had my surgeries I had blocks done for them and they all kept it from coming back out.

What I was wondering if the RSD is in both arms or hands or is it mirroring over to the opposite side. Mine mirrors over to the left side at times.

I would have them on the worst side. Even though at this time the pain is not at it's worst try and think about which side is worse.

Hi Debbie,

I am new at this forum, have mostly been at the TOS forum, but am over here now due to a new diagnosis of CRPS II; so I am curious about where you received the Stellate ganglion block. Is it isn the same place for all RSD/CRPS or where your "site" is?? Maybe I should post this as a new thread.

Also, My hear breaks for you. I have my Gromit, who you can see in my avatar, and next to my husband he is the one who gets me through, and I have 2 grown kids!! Family and friends are wonderful, but ther is nothing like the love and devotion of a dear pet, esp. when you are feeling blue or are in pain.

I was lost when Gromit was at the vet's or a day having his teeth cleaned. I can't imagine not having him. I am thinking that it would be good if you could get another sweet pet to help fill the void of the loss of your loved one. I know that is what I am planning to do, to just keep 'em coming... I hope to get another dog soon, we've already picked out her name, Lily, (hence the screen name :icon_biggrin: )

I hope the remainder of your injections go well and are less unpleasant for you.

Take Care,
G ~ :Wave-Hello:

Thanks

Thanks so much for all of your sympathy and thoughts! I think we will be looking for another dog- problem is I have a deep fear of dogs and will take some time to get use to another

The site of the upper ganglion block is in your lower side of the neck closer to the side they are blocking...
Im glad it has helped some of you and hope it will help me as well

Deb
