Conducting supplement experiment

I have been reading a lot on curcumin for inflamation lately. I got great results with zyflamend with my pn burning and I believe it is because of my hashi inflamation so have decided to try this also.

Research looks good, of course trying to decide which kind to use. Lot of discussion on bioprene or black pepper used with turmeric/curcumin in order for it to be absorbed.

The experiment is, my husband has inflamation/joint pain and so do I along with my pn, so I bought two different supplements, one with black pepper and one without.

Anyone here try curcumin?

I'm not a big fan of turmeric (tastewise), but some sources recommend it over just curcumin.

Yes I do. Love the taste, and I make a lot of Indonesian dishes.

I use the fresh roots when I have the time to get them. You have to be careful cutting them though, as the orange color attaches to just about everything and is *very* hard to clean. If that's not available I just use the spice.

I didn't know about the black pepper, but then again I always use that as well (freshly ground).

Many of our dishes contain ginger, garlic, black pepper, apple cider vinegar, and curcumin/turmeric when it fits taste wise.

I have no proof or anything, but I tend to prefer fresh ingredients with no processing. I'm not a "die-hard" in that regards, mind you, but if it's available and I have the time, I go for the root in this case.

PS: you do cut/use it like you use fresh ginger. The roots keep pretty well in the fridge, up to several weeks (again, like ginger)

You should keep the bioperine away from any RX drugs you are taking.

We've kept ginger root in the freezer (in a ziploc bag) for up to a year. I don't know if it would be the same with turmeric, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I took turmeric 900 mg per day, Paragon Opti-Extract Turmeric, for 30 days and did not experience any improvement in symptoms.
