Meet with new Pain man. Doc tomorrow...

Hello all you lovely friends out there in cyber world :D
Ok.. I meet with my PMD tomorrow(early morning) I hope he does what my specialist wants him to do! My friend who is a police Captain said to me;"This sounds scarry and risky"! He told me not to have my arm paralized! I asked him, if he kneow about RSD. probably not. Anyway, to me this is kind of exciting and very different. The specialist knew as soon as he seen my hand, wrist and shoulder that I have RSD. I am happy that he is sending me to a pain Dr. that he says is good. That other idiot I had well... :Sob: made me cry and that is where my husband, Bill told off the dude :mf_argue: LOL:D
I told hom also that my surgeon was going to do the other wrist (Surgery for Carpal tunnal) He told me, "No way, Do NOT have that surgery done"! So, I am not. Besides, my left hand does NOT bother me at all. It's my right hand, wrist, upper arm and shoulder.. OUCH  That hurts! Well, please wish me the "Best and say some prayers".. who knows.. maybe this is a "New start to helping some of us Thank you all!?? Desi

:Wave-Hello: Hi Desi,
Best of Luck to you my Friend... In your heart you know that you are doing the right thing... My arm was paralyzed once when I had a brachial plexus block done the kenalog that was used ended up seeping around some of the other nerves because the muscles were spasming so badley and I was unable to move my right arm for about 20 hours. It was very strange not to have any control over your arm at all especially when you are trying to sleep as it just flops everywhere. You can truly have sympathy for a stroke patient if you know what I mean.
I do hope that your pain management doc is the best... I can tell you I really like my new guy... They are out there, you just have to find them...
Many Hugs
Dawn

Hi Desi,

I have never heard of a Dr. paralizing someones arm or hand but apparently it's something new. I hope it works for you. Did you pull it up on the computer and read about it? Sometimes we can find good info about new things they are trying on here.

Like you I have all of the hand, wrist, and shoulder problems on the right side. My left side is the same way too, but not near as bad.

The two surgeries that seem to bring out RSD the most is the Thoracic Outlet Surgery and the Carpal Tunnel Surgery. The Thoracic Surgery brought mine out the first time. Since then I have had two rotator cuff surgeries and ulner nerve on the right side. I had blocks for the last three.

Now you can ask for blocks from your Surgeon. The Anesteologist at most hospitals will do them now.

I still need the CT surgery and the Triggerfinger surgeries but I have been getting triggerpoint shots in my hands to fend them off. That might be something you ask for if your CT starts acting up. They hurt but my last ones have lasted about a year now.

I find it hard to find a good Pain Management Dr. There is now one in the Springs that I have several friends going to but I haven't went to him yet. I went to several and finally just ask my family Dr. if he would help me deal with the RSD.

I hope this one lives up to your exspectations and can help you.

Ada

[COLOR="Blue"]Hi Dawn, :Wave-Hello: Thanks for wishing me luck. I don't know if this new Dr. is going to do this Brachial plexus block tomorrow, or if he is just going to sit down and explain what he is going to do?? Hey, Lady.. Thank you for remembering the name of this block!! I was ripping my hair out trying to remember! duh! LOL:confused2: Anyway, I had this block done years ago when my I.V. blew and the pain and sweling didn't go away, a lady Dr. did this Brachial plexus block on me.(She was going to do more, but one block did the trick!) I had to stay in the hospital room for at least until I could raise my arm.. I couldn't! It felt like I had no right arm, but I got really giddy from it after about about a half hour! I was in the room laughing out loud all my myself. The door was open, I know the nurses could hear me, but I couldn't help LOL.. weird, huh?? I loved the fact, though that I felt no pain. I now know how a poor stroke victum felt, at least in one of his/her arm. This block lasted a good 20 hours or more. Towards midnight(I was already home by then, I got kinda scared thinking, OMG what if I will never move it again?? I went to sleep, slept like a baby since I had that pain for 2 months and when I got up in the morning, no pain.. the block (only one) did it's job!! wow! I am so happy that you like your new PMD(Pain management Doctor) I hope mine is nice and caring tomorrow. Thanks again Dawn and   back atcha! Love, Desi I had to wait a few min. before writing back to you Ada.. My husband and little girl just now surprised me with a "beautiful smile yellow vase full of "Beautiful flowers".. Oh my I'm gonna cry! She is seven and had a musical card, then brought up the flowers.. she was so proud. My Birthday is not until the 18th. of July, but they said they are "Get well" flowers too!!! aww..:)
Ok, Ada No, this apparantly is not new.. I don't know how to put a link on here?? hmmmm.. I can do it on "Our smoking cesation board, but not on here!! weird! Anyway you can just type in"Brachial plexus block, and that takes ya right there! Thank you, Ada.. I hope this works for me too! I too believe what you said about Thoracic Outlet and Carpal Tunnal surgery brings out the RDS out! If I would hve known this, I never, ever would have had that CT surgery! Wow, Ada you had two rotator cuff surgeries?? How did you manage that?/Plus you had ulner nerve surgery as well!! Is there anyway, you can avoid having the Carpal tunnal surgery? Or does it have to be done? Ada, I never heard of triggerpoint shots. I will for sure ask for that, as I too have carpal Tunnal in my left hand, wrist. Thank you. Love, Desi
Hey there, Rogue! Thanks for the "Good Luck wishes, my friend.. that means a lot! I sure do hope that this pain management Doc. I see tomorrow helps me more than that idiot I went to for the 3 ganglion neck nerve blocks I had, but never helped!! Love, Desi
