Bracelets or necklace

Do any of you wear bracelets or necklaces that indicate you have Parkinson's?

Peace, Eva

The National Parkinsons Foundation has an awareness program designed to assist PD patients when they are hospitalized. You can order these kits that contain an ID bracelet to let others know that you have PD. This should signal the care provider that you are usually on medications that interact with many commonly administered treatments when in the hospital or when treated elsewhere. It should also alert those treating you that you must get your pills on time.

Note that I used the word "usually" in what should happen when you are identified as a person with PD. it is the patients' responsibility to prepare in advance for such times. That's the reason for the kits. It's a fantastic benefit we should all take advantage of. Click on this link for more info:

Good luck.

Thanks Peg,

I did send away for this kit and it has great information to prepare a PWP for a hospital stay.

Eva,

I do wear a bracelet. However, I don’t need the ID bracelet from the kit because my dear husbster gave me a lovely silver bangle bracelet with a large round charm that in bold letters has MEDICAL ALERT on one side and PARKINSON’S on the other. Just a bit more stylish (he knows me so well)!

Also, I always carry the card from the kit, listing my doctors and medications, with me.

Again, Peg thanks for all you do for PD.
