fuzzy vision
 

does anyone else get this?

I swear I am in a flare lately. my vision is so blurry and fuzzy. The eye MD said my optic nerve looks fine, but MS has probably damaged the nerve itself from repeated attacks. Everything is out of focus. like someone smeared vaseline on my eyeballs only it isnt adding moisture. My eyes are so dry that I swear when I blink its like sandpaper rubbing the eyeball itself.

I am back on steroid eye drops and steroid ointments for them and the MD is pushing me to do more IVSM. Last IVSM I ended up with pancreatitis and its scares me.

I feel isolated, alone and that folks are hyper critical of me. now, I am sure that is all part of whatever flare this is, but its still not a nice corner to be in. I want to feel accepted, and respected and included, but so far this season I feel excluded and left out. I miss my children, I miss my friends in another state, and I miss my old life. MS is supposed to be about a walking disability, not about vision! not about fatigue or cog fog. I feel tricked by this disease. when it arrived it dragged in promises of wheel chairs and the need for a walking cane, not the need for a blind cane and a seeing eye dog.

Gawd, this is such a stupid disease!

From what you are describing it sounds like you are being treated for Sjögren's and not MS related eye problems.

Unfortunately, Sjögren's does effect vision and at some point you could be legally blind due to Sjögren's :(

Dej, my vision is compromised due to MS, too. I've had diplopia and ON. I get the "fuzzies" from time to time, too. Especially if I get too tired or overheated. I don't deal with the dry eyes, though.

I know it's scary. Just thinking about possibly becoming legally blind is upsetting.

I do have Sjögren's but I am told my current eye issues are MS related. While the dry eye can get much worse from the increase in meds for MS, I have been assured that its my optic nerve making the fuzzies.

I am upset that I cant see well enough to enjoy TV or a video game. I no longer write long hand, and depend on things like Dragon naturally speaking for internet stuff.

Blindness is not something I expected with MS. :mad:

Were you told your current eye problems are MS related by a neuro or Opthamologist?

I am not trying to be insensitive but I wonder if you truly understand what Sjögren's can do to your vision.

I have a friend who has Sjögren's, she does not have MS nor has she ever had ON. She is legally blind because of Sjögren's. Her treatments (steroid ointments and steroid eye drops) are the same you are being given. About a year and a half ago she had to turn in her drivers license...she is 53 years old.

I have been told by both the neuro and the optho that its MS related. YEs, Sjögren's plays a part in it, but the majority of its MS. It does trigger the Sjögren's to have an increase in things like pain killers, or muscle relaxers as they cause dryness. Both assure me its an MS thing, and to "hang in there."

I get the fuzzy vision too. Had some earlier this month when the drunk walking started. Still a bit fuzzy, but not as bad as it was.

I had really fuzzed up vision back in May when I had the painful flare that I did IVSM for. Sometimes in the spring and summer when I've had a vision flare going on (dim vision usually) I get this weird dry eye thing going on that makes my eyes feel like they're drying up inside my socket. Like someone rolled my eyes around in a salt flat before putting them back in my head.

This week my eyes hurt (been on oral 'roids for 2 weeks for the drunk walking) and I'm tired all the time and my eyes are gummy. Not sure if that's an MS thing, or an "I'm tired because the 'roids dont let me sleep..." thing.

So I would like you to PM me and tell me your history of eye problems, how you got dxd with Sjorgren's, etc.
I hope that you are being well looked after for this...vision is the worst sense to lose, IMHO...
