Restless leg

Is it possible to have restless leg syndrom and pn? My husband says I complain of the symptoms the person on the restless leg commercial has. My lags and feet have definately been keeping me awake lately. They tingle and burn at night when I lie down. They don't do that during the day. I know I hae pn..diagnosed over 7 years now. It has been very much under control butlately my nights have been terrible. I cannot keep still and I flop around trying to get comfortable and get some sleep. I have sleep apnea and not even my machine is helping. Does anyone have an opinion?

Of course.

No that one can't be co-morbid (have more than one condition) in almost any situation, but those with neuron damage often have twitches, spasms, and/or feelings of banding, tightness, tension sensations of needing to move the legs (or arms, or hands) . . .actually moving the legs changes the sensation input and results in the reduction of these sensations, at least temporarily.

The thing to remember is that restless leg syndrome is just that, a syndrome, like many neuropathies are--it's not a disease in itself, but is caused by something else (perhaps nerve dysfunction), and there are many conditions that may mimic it (including neuropathic ones).

This Mayo Clinic site has a good summary:

They are similar, but VERY..

different.

I was thinking about this issue last night while a RLS ad was on...that there could be soo many folks diagnosed or mis-diagnosed either way. I believe the steps for diagnosing RLS are far less extensive. I promise to suss it out and will post somethings [if I find them] later today.

I do think that the approaches to treatments are similar tho. It's just a matter of degree of pain and disability and the medication options that differ in scope.

Hope this helps! - j

Thanks for your reply. Some of this leg activity is new and I am not sure if I am just getting worse or developing something else.
