LA Weight Loss Centers

I don't know if this has been brought up or not but last week-end there was a great expose' done on LA Weight Loss Centers showing that employees only go through Sales training, they know zero about weight loss and although they advertise $7/week, it ends up costing over $3,000 if you get "taken" into their scheme and buy all the food and vitamins.

Has anyone gone to LA Weight Loss?

Happy Dieting;
Nancy

We were laughing about this on the WW bulletin boards. What a pathetic scheme operation.

LIZARD, glad I know how to manage my food intake properly! :)

just like any new story there are 2 sides, but you only see one.

not all la weight loss centers have such untrained employees. you need to check the individual places and ask to see credentials.

personally, i am not for any place that is diet only. not even ww.

 What do you mean by this?

LIZARD, just curious :)

it takes more than just diet to lose weight and keep it off.

ww is a good diet, but not a place where you have exercise too. they may tell you that you need to exercise...but they don't have trained staff, personal trainers or a gym for you to exercise.

Good Morning Curious,

I agree 100% that there are two sides to every story & the show did mention several times that not all LA centers have "sales only" driven employees. However, apparently their New Hire Training manual only teaches sales and never mentions diet at all. And, the false advertising got quite a lot of airtime since there were several complaints filed against LA for the ad that says it will cost $7 a week and then people are upsold product until they have spent $3,000. (Granted, they need a class in how to say "NO"!)

ANYWAY - I just wanted to see if anyone here had an experience, good, bad, or otherwise that they could share with us. I didn't mean to start comparing one program against another.

Later,
Nancy

It's true that they don't give you specific exercises to do, and you're right; they don't have staff trained in fitness, but they don't "give you a diet." They teach you how to eat properly by helping you learn to portion correctly and actually know when you're hungry (as opposed to bored, stressed, etc), and also how to get proper and necessary nutrients into your daily intake. You learn for yourself how important activity is, both for losing and maintaining weight loss and for cardio fitness, and you can get suggestions on how to start out slowly if, like me, you were used to being sedentary prior to starting the program. It beats the cr@p out of any of the fads out there (e.g. Jenny Craig, NutriSystem, cabbage soup [GROSS!], Slim Fast [Gross], or paper-tasting Special K). More people are successful at losing and keeping off weight on WW than any other organized weight-loss program. :)

LIZARD, who celebrated 18 months on Sunday! :D

my aunt is doing LA diet- it is not helping her to lose at all.
she also is diagnosed as diabetic.
and yes she said it was very expensive.

my mom was the one that told her to try it--just by watching the commercials!
if I would have known she was going to join-I would have checked it out before she did so.
to late now.
