new diagnosis

I have been diagnoses with TN recently. I have already failed one med, Trileptal and now am on Tegretol. I am a health care professional so I know the anatomy and physiology of this:confused: entity very well unfortunately, and knew the ramifications of this diagnosis.
I can no longer drive a car and I can't work as I am so sedated from the meds. I am considering surgery. Has anyone had experience with Gamma Kniife. I have read the diary of the patient who had the MVD. Has anyone else had MVD or Gamma Knife? Are there any other folks who had to stop working because of this? My whole life just stopped on the day I was diagnosed. I don't know how to get it back!

I had the Gamma Knife. It was successful for 4 years, until the pain returned. I am now going to a chiro, and 95% of the pain is gone. If you want more info re my program, please contact me

chiro

It is my understanding that your chiropractor need to be very well qualified in this are of neck manipulation. I am very open to CAM therapies, but I also need a speedy resolution to this problem i.e. MVD in order to resume my professional life or my career is kaput! You never know how much you love your job until you can't do it!

Brain surgery is more risky than CAM, and it sometimes doesn't work. Why don't you join the TN-L mailing list? It's very active, and you can search the archives for patients' experiences with MVD.
