BIL Needs Prayers

we got a call last night. my BIL has come down with a bad case of chicken pox. :( his dr thinks he may of gotten infected when he took my MIL to the er.

btw...he is in his 40's. i know getting them when you are older can be pretty rough.

thanks y'all. i'll keep this thread updated as i hear. grandmonkey hasn't had them yet, so we can't do much to help. don't want to risk him getting infected.:(

I for sure do pray for your BIL

L-lysine amino acid is good to take to help to stop the virus....both for BIL and for those in contact with him

praying too that MIL doesnt get it!

 ty chemar. my SIL has shingles. we are hoping she doesn't have an outbreak too.

i will pass on the info.

Curious,

I am so sorry they are so miserable. I will definitely pray for them.

If S-I-L is married to B-I-L, the one with Shingles had a dormant form of chicken pox. The person with chicken pox caught it from the person with shingles. They are both the same virus.

I had shingles many years ago although I actually did have chicken pox when I was a child, but they told me to stay away from children who had not had chicken pox.

Oh Curious,

I am so sorry that all this is happening. I sure hope everyone is recuperating well and that grandmonkey does not catch it.

 to you for all your do for everyone.

oh my sympathy and prayers for you BIL. My Hub had them in 98 when florida had all the fires and he had them in his throat to top it all off.
Believe when i say i know what he is going threw. It is Way harder when one is older and can also lead to other things like t.n. and p.n. N=neuralgias in worse cases..... here I am probly making you feel worse and worry more but some may think chicken pox is nothing and they would be wrong! same with shingels they are much alike . You and your famliy have my prayers for the pox and shingels to pass safely and QUICKLY by and may both recover fully and fast with no one else comming down with pox or shingels
many prayers and blessings . :grouphug:
Peace Peace

y'all are wonderful

:grouphug: thank you all. your continual support means the world to me. sound like a broken record don't i?

judy...that is what i told my MIL. she is very stubborn about this and wants to blame the hospital. yep...BIL..is my hubby's bro..SIL is his wife.

bmw...my dad never had chicken pox. i remember when lil'monkey came down with them. her ped made us get her fully checked before any of us could be around him. yep...they are bad in adults. i'll have hubby gentley bring up the tn and pn.

BIL is getting some pretty hefty rx's to keep him doped up.

shelley...my family is staying clear. makes me feel bad...but no way right now could i handle that little guy getting them. :o

Alffe 05-04-2007 05:32 PM

I'm so sorry to read this Curious. Mr.Alffe was two years recovering from his shingles pain (he thinks drinking DanActive everyday is what finally knocked it out of his system) I'm suprised your BIL didn't get shingles instead of chicken pox. I know it's the same virus.

Curious 05-04-2007 06:31 PM

 ty alffe.

we haven't seen him...but we were told chicken pox. all over. i hope and pray he doesn't end up with shingles too. :( BIL is the only one who drives in his family. MIL doesn't either. they depend on him to take them every where. hopefully he wil gets lots of rest this weekend.

i'll pass on the dan active advice. clouds has shingles...i'll tell him too.
