Serocuel?

Hello all,

I haven't been here for a while. I have an adult daughter with autism in her late 30's. Through the years I have managed to keep her off of the Anti Psychotic Medication as she is Autistic not Psychotic.

After getting her out of a care center several years ago I find that her good group home is starting to lower the bar as far as treating Autism. They used to use a strictly behavioral approach.....and some SSRI's for OCD. She came home with Serocuel to replace the Clozapine which they had prescribed recently. The reason is that she seems to rush through her day. I HATE THIS. After her home visit is over (she comes home every other weekend) I am going to talk to someone about this. I just don't like the idea of this medication. Am I wrong? I know I am getting older and there is a new generation of autistic children now, but does this stuff work? Is it like killing a mosquito with an elephant gun?

Just not happy. Tell me what you think.

Let me correct above post. I had originally thought it was Clozapine, but I think it was Clozaril, a benzodiazapam type drug.......valium. Anyway, I am more concerned now about the new drug. She is already taking Chlormipramine for OCD.

Excuse my spelling, but I think you get the idea. What are some of the meds if any that your children or adults with autism are on and how are they working?

Try this instead:

Google "Developmental Disorders and Dairy Products" and click on the top link.

It works, and has no risk whatsoever.

clozapine and clozaril are same drug....and i think it is seroquel that you are referring to.....

Yes I believe it is seroquel also. I honestly don't know about using
because of autism.

But my son is on it for other reasons. Has been for 8 years. In his case
it works for anxiety and things that make him really upset.

It is a very small dosage that they have him on. Its 50mg a day. 25 in
the morning and 25 at night.

We tried taking him off once, it didn't work he returned to the anxiety and
upset kid.

When we first put him on it he was having hallucinations from his seizures.

But it really helps this other stuff too.

Thought I would add he is 18 and used to have OCD also. It seems to have gotten much better with the adding of seroquel.
