Le Sigh

This is not a question I wanted to bring here. In my situation currently however, I have little choice.

I had the Depo P. shot done Oct. 30, during my menstrual cycle (day 2 or 3 of cycle).

Then Nov. 5 I had a LEEP procedure done.

Things went 'normal'. I had the brownish discharge they mention for a bit, then day 5 I had slight spotting, which went on for a few days.

I expected this to stop. I had some cramps, which is par course with aunt flo and I. I had been operated on for endometriosis years ago, so cramps and menstruation go hand in hand for me.

Well here we are November 25th, and I still have bright red blood daily. It has not stopped. It's not enough that I have to change pads frequently, but it's enough that it's noticeable. I have an odd sensation on my right side abdomen, which is not an unfamiliar sensation. I had this last year around this time, and they did tons of xrays and ultrasounds looking for cysts and whatnot.

Ok, so it would make sense to call the colposcopy clinic to ask about the bleeding, right? They're closed, and so is the gyno who did the procedure, who is in the same building, due to an electrical fire there Monday! What are the chances? :( They're going to be out for 2 weeks!

So I called my family doctor's secretary, who suggested I wait until Dec. 5 when I see my doctor to discuss with her then, due to the circumstances. Unless it gets out of control in the meantime.

Has anyone had a LEEP and had continuous bright red bleeding like this? It's a bit above spotting, but almost like the last days of a menstrual period. Could it be the Depo shot + the LEEP procedure resulted in this?

The LEEP indicates that the discharge should end 2-3 weeks following procedure. I have not noticed brown discharge from the LEEP itself, only this bright red blood, no clots or clumps (sorry if TMI).

I found a discusion forum where they are talking about the same things you are. They believe their symptoms are from the shot.

I hope you get some relief soon.

Thanks for the info. I found someone at MSWorld who also said she had the bleeding for 85 consecutive days on depo.

Why do neuros NOT want us on regular old birth control? :(
