ent appointment tomorrow, advice?

I meant to post this earlier but forgot :o I am seeing an ENT (ear, nose and throat specialist) tomorrow finally! I do not feel I can improve in other areas until I've gotten control of the dizziness and can walk more than a few steps.

I'm hopeful that this appointment will bring some relief and/or answers on how to move forward. Any suggestions on questions to ask, treatments to request or specific tests? I've done some searches but don't want to miss anything.

I also have a phone interview with my LTD case manager. Ears and head don't like phone calls. Gonna be a high symptom day. I know I shouldn't think that way but I've been at this long enough now....

Wishing you all a good day!

never mind

Well, it was another waste of time appointment that shows how perfectly healthy I am in every way.

I was strongly hoping that it was vestibular and could be magically fixed with a couple treatments. Back to.... time and ...... rest.

Feeling really sad and hopeless right now but I think its just the over zealous emotions and the fact I've been up since 4:30 for no good reason. The hearing tests didn't help either.

Maybe meditating will help.... hope you are having a good day.

I understand how you feel about wasted appointment. I have seen way too many Dr.'s only to be dissapointed. I saw an ENT as well that tested my vestibular and hearing and everything too was fine.

It wasn't until I saw a neuro ophthalmolgist that said I had convergence insufficiency very bad. She said she's worked with lots of veterans with head injuries and 85 % would have convergence insufficiency.

I have very similar symptoms to you and this explains why I'm having my symptoms. They are giving me blue lenses to wear in glasses to help relax and retrain my eyes. Best of luck and try not to get discourage. I understand how frustrated you must be.

thanks

Ughhh i typed out this response and for some reason "post reply" didn't work. Try again...

Thank you for your understanding! How many months were you into your pcs when you saw the neuro ophthalmologist? I have a referral to see one but I don't have the appointment date yet. I am assuming it will be around April or May.

By then I will either be 11 months since my accident or I will be symptom free and cancelling the appointment. I don't want to get my hopes up on this appointment too but with my eye problems I'm hopeful he'll have answers/validation to what's been going on.

I'm supposed to start physiotherapy in January but I feel that may just be a waste of time.

Thanks for listening!

I didn't see the neuro-eye specialist till 12 months after my accident. I think everyone still having pcs symptoms for 3+months should get an eye evaluation. Try to go to one who can prescribe tinted or prism glasses. Vision therapy can be done too for convergence insufficiency, but dr. said glasses are a better way to go at first(and cheaper comparitively).

I am waiting for the glasses but will update on any progress. I'd also suggest doing accupuncture as thats the only treatment where I felt considerably better after.

Please let us know how the new glasses work. I don't think that's my problem though. I don't have a problem with up close vision. I found this interesting website yesterday
http://www.nora.cc/for-patients-mainmenu-34.html

and there are a number of things here that sound like they might be what's going on with me. I'll have to wait till my appointment to find out though! Guess I'll just wait and rest and keep healing!

I hope you are having a good day!
