Hit head again 3 weeks after concussion, chances I'm ok?

So three weeks ago tomorrow I got a concussion when I collided with a car on a skateboard. My symptoms seemed to resolve about 4 days ago. Today I surfed again for the first time and sure enough I hit my head in sort of the same place as a few weeks ago. It wasn't too bad of hit, but hard enough to leave a small bump and leave a small abrasion.

I only have a slight headache now and only slight pain where my board hit. No other symptoms seem to be present. Do you think I will be okay or could I have re aggravated my concussion?

whvander,

Welcome to NeuroTalk.

From what you describe, nobody can say if this was another concussion. You may have aggravated your previous concussion. You make it sound like your board hit you in the head. Is that correct ?

You should be wearing a helmet. At least for the next 6 months.

Concussion symptoms often get better for a few days then return, often with a vengeance of the person decided to resume normal activities too soon. It takes about two weeks of being symptoms free before one can start to think their symptoms have truly resolved.

Thanks for the responses everyone! I agree I should have used greater precaution, it just kills me to stay away from the water for so long.

The board hit me in the head as it was rebounding when I was surfacing. It wasn't too hard of a knock and the bump has subsided a little, it's mostly sore there and I still have a mild headache.

I also split my hand open and should probably allow that some more time to heal as well.
