IDIOPATHIC Mononeuritis Multiplex at 30?

Hi All,
I can't seem to find any stat's or info related to IDIOPATHIC mononeuritis multiplex? and age? As a 30 year old women, this label with no action, just dosn't sit right with me! I've experienced four EXTREMELY painful major nerves palsies in three years and multiple minor palsies, all co-existing in different states of recovery. HNPP negative. I passed on the nerve biopsy because I can't decide which limb to sacrifice next at the risk of no diagnosis anyway! Can anyone shed some light on IDIOPATHIC MNM in young women?
Thanks guys :)

Hello Missy G, where is your symptom, arm/leg/hand/foot etc?

Hi! If it helps, I am a 29 year old women with no diagnosis yet but very severe symptoms on a lot of medication. Pain doctor, etc. I also find most web info to be geared towards the aging population. It really is something to have our youth stolen from under our feet.
Please feel free to PM me .

Not certain that age makes any difference. Hope you find an answer.

Hate to say this--

--but the term "idiopathic mononeuritis multiplex" is only a symptomological description--it doesn't otherwise have much value.

It simply describes that you have had multiple individual nerve pathways damaged enough to cause symptoms in the areas these pathways serve. And, of course, no cause has been found.

On the other hand, unless you've been seen at a tertiary center, I would doubt you've had anywhere near as extensive a work-up as you might need. In young women, a mononeuritis multiplex suggests possible autoimmume disorders, possible toxicities, or possibly nutritional deficiencies, for starters.

Have you had vitamin levels tested? Autoimmune panels done (especially for the anti-nuclear antibody variants)? Any reason to expect chemical toxicity and get testing done for heavy metals and/or organic solvents in tissue?

I would look over the Liza Jane spreadsheets, which were created to be about as extensive a listing of tests for neurological symptoms that the best minds could think of, and see what you;ve had done and not done (and the spreadsheets also serve as a handy guide to track results over time):
