Does this sound liike ......?

I broke my wrist and a bone in my hand just about two years ago. Tonight, pain in that hand actually woke me up. 600 mgs of Ibuprofen finally took the edge off The pain is mostly in the knuckle of my index finger down to the base of my thumb, and also in the area where some screws were attached. (Does this sound like arthritis?)

Thanks,
Sue :sunchair:

I feel your pain Sue. I broke my wrist 8 months ago, and it still hurts.

It seems that it depends on which bones were broken, and whether surgery was required or not, as to how quickly the pain goes away.

I saw the Ortho Specialist recently and he told me that because my Radius was impacted in the fracture, leaving the Ulna longer than the radius, I could expect the pain to go on indefinitely unless I have surgery to correct the difference in the bone lengths.

The surgery suggested to me was amputation of the bottom end of the ulna, or permanent fixation of the wrist. Neither of which appealed to me.

As you've already had surgery, I wonder if the difference in the bone lengths was addressed at the time. If so, then I'd have to agree that arthritis might be the cause of your on-going pain..... sorry!
