Can anyone say something inspiring?

I just can't seem to get into doing the diet thing... I would like to though. I heard that Dr Oz said that being overweight was as risky as having breast cancer, and that has motivated me a little.

Perhaps someone would be willing to partake in a little gamble? Like who can loose 20 pounds by Valentines day or something. Maybe if there was a bit of comeptition it would help:rolleyes:

LIZARD... if you can inspire me to go to ww please do... see its working for ya. We have a group that is about to start meeting here at work... so.....
ugh.. hate being so uninspired.

Keggy - I'm so in the same boat - kinda on the fence about committing to a real plan.
i do need to get with it.
How about - lets aim lower like 5 lbs by Valentines day and make that a plan??
anybody else want to aim for that?

I'm at 170 right now and need to get my treadmill fixed or maybe find a nice used elliptical that will take less space in the house and not have a noisy motor like the treadmill does.
I'm on a rock road and kind of remote so walking on the road is kind of iffy for me - plus the Oregon weather has been wetter and colder this winter.
This winter is actually more how I remember it as a kid-wet, muddy and chilly!- the last few years have been pretty mild compared to this year.

Well girls, I got inspired by my son and his new bride who got a little chunky on their honeymoon and kept on eating. Last summer they both went to WW and in 5 months they each lost about 25 lbs. They are also running which helps. My hubby and I are going to first try the online Weight Watchers because it's free for a week and then $65 for 3 months (or longer). Because of our disabilities, neither of us can excercise but I may have an edge because I have to go back to physical therapy.

I may be willing to join in a group even though I can't excercise hard, it would just help getting us through the Winter Blahs.

As far as medical evidence on what addl. weight does to the body, all you have to do is a search on the net and you'll become paranoid in no time. :-) HA HA

I'd also like to say "WELCOME" to both of you, Jo and Keggy. If you have been here in the past I apologize for not recognizing your names. But in any case, you are most welcome to the Weight Loss Support Group!

Hi guys~
I'm not sure how inspiring it is, but I got to thinking about how good it felt the last time I got serious about losing weight. I mean really serious, where I was going down pant sizes and people were complimenting me and asking me what I was doing to lose weight.

Do you remember how you felt when they gave you those compliments asked you those questions? I do, and I remember it made me want to keep losing. I remember standing in front of my mirror with my jeans on and pulling them out thinking--OMG--I can buy a smaller size!! I was turning sideways and looking over at my shoulder trying to see if my butt looked any different. Isn't if funny how we kinda look the same to us? I think cuz we see us everyday.

I've started getting serious already, and people are starting to notice. You guys remember how it feels, I know you do. Man, it motivates the he!! outta you! Now is a perfect time to get serious. Think about summer coming and the shorts coming out. You won't have sweatshirts and long pants to hide under. (OK, if you're anything like me anyway)

You know, it really isn't so bad once you start. I think it's really just the idea of starting. We all know it's a matter of burning more calories than we take in. That's what I'm trying to do. I'm not starving myself, nor am I denying myself, because that's setting myself up for binge eating. I'm 50 years old and have probably tried every diet known to man. Back to the basics. Dieting is a very personal thing. Whatever works for you. As long as you incorporate exercise into your daily regime and get the proper nutrients/vitamins you should be good to go.

We have a great support system here. We get sidetracked by having fun on here, but we DO support each other. We all fall off of our diets at times. Sometimes a lot of times. We are human and we need to recognize that that will happen. It's OK. When we are ready, we will get back to it. We can't beat ourself up forever. We need to look at it as in the past and move on.

:Soapbox:Sorry:Talkative: I always say/type what I'm thinking, so I ramble. I will gladly diet with you guys. I take my "virtual walk" at 11am central. I walk in my house for 30 minutes, with lipstick on so I am a "BABE"! That's a carryover from the other forum. I imagine whomever wants to go along with me different places every day--Wallys world, the beach, the grocerystore, mainstreet uptown here. Carrying it further, we had skateboards involved, playing hide and seek inbetween aisles, got kicked out of the store, knocked down store displays, almost charged with shoplifting......we all added on to stories when we walked. Some gals could not walk, so they did what they could instead. Any type of exercise--as long as they had lipstick (chapstick, lipgloss etc.) on so they could be a BABE.

Come on ladies, lets start that diet and exercise program. Lets drop some pounds so we can get those compliments!! Take a minute now and remember what it was like..... It was awesome!! Think of those shorts! Let's do it! Let's do it together!! It's really not that bad, it's just the idea of starting it. Whadda say????

Hugs,
Jan :)
PS--Welcome Keggy & Jo--shoulda said that first, sorry! :o

Welcome Keggy & Jo~

All we needed was a kick in the pants, I'm game also. I have talked long enough. Time for action. I'm glad you brought this up I know of one or two more that will probably join in.

I have the treadmill so lets go. I may actually go outside some since I had the back surgery. At first tho, I got to get over this broncitis, so I'll stay inside at the start. How about the rest of you? Are you willing to give it a try, even for a few pounds at the start. Anything, to get moltivated. We can cheer each other as we felt lead to do so.

This is as close as I could get to a funny today!
Hugs,
Billie:D

Hey, Keg. :)

Seriously, if you wanna lose, this is the best way, plain and simple. You'll learn all about portion control, how to recognize when you're actually hungry (vs bored, tired, depressed, etc), you learn how to plan ahead so it's second nature...it's just so much easier than I ever thought it would be! Go to www.weightwatchers.com and check the boards out. You'll be inspired; I guarantee it. :)

Good luck!

LIZARD :)

wellllllll, I'll try. I rejoined Curves but wouldn't let them weigh or measure me.
So...guess I'll have to get on those scales this morning to have a starting weight, Hell of a way to start my day! :D

janster 01-04-2007 10:43 AM

Anyone else?? More "OLD" cheerleaders? We're ready to cheer a WHOLE bunch!!!

Fancylady_2006 01-04-2007 05:00 PM

I found another funny~ OH NO!

Subject: Dress Code.

COMPANY POLICY - EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

Dress Code

It is advised that you come to work dressed according to your salary.

* If we see you wearing Prada shoes and carrying a Gucci bag, we assume you are
doing well
financially and therefore do not need a raise.
*If you dress poorly, you need to learn to manage your money better, so that you
may buy nicer
clothes and therefore you do not need a raise.

* If you dress just right, you are right where you need to be and therefore you
do not need a raise.

Sick Days

We will no longer accept a doctor's statement as proof of sickness.
If you are able to go to the doctor, you are able to come to work.

Personal Days

Each employee will receive 104 personal days a year. They are called Saturday &
Sunday.

Bereavement Leave

This is no excuse for missing work. There is nothing you can do for dead
friends, relatives or co-
workers. Every effort should be made to have non-employees attend to the
arrangements. In rare
cases where employee involvement is necessary, the funeral should be scheduled
in the late
afternoon. We will be glad to allow you to work through your lunch hour and
subsequently leave one
hour early.

Bathroom Breaks

Entirely too much time is being spent in the toilet. There is now a strict
three-minute time limit in the
stalls. At the end of three minutes, an alarm will sound, the toilet paper roll
will retract, the stall door
will open, and a picture will be taken. After your second offense, your picture
will be posted on the
company bulletin board under the "Chronic Offenders Category". Anyone caught
smiling in the
picture will be sanctioned under the company's mental health policy.

Lunch Break

* Skinny people get 30 minutes for lunch, as they need to eat more, so that they
can look healthy.

* Normal size people get 15 minutes for lunch to get a balanced meal to maintain
their average
figure.

* Fluffy people get 5 minutes for lunch, because that's all the time needed to
drink a Slim-Fast.

Thank you for your loyalty to our company. We are here to provide a positive
employment experience.
Therefore, all questions, comments, concerns, complaints, frustrations,
irritations, aggravations,
insinuations, allegations, accusations, contemplations, consternation and input
should be directed
elsewhere.

A FLUFFY PERSON
