Hi, my name is Nesca and I have joined this site to read about others that might be having the same condition as I.

I have just received the readings of my MRI and it is scary! the Impression is: Severe cervical spondylosis at C3-4 through C6-7 with degenerative changes superimposed on borderline developmental canal narrowing resulting in severe central canal stenosis at C3-4 through C5-6 and associated with myelomacia within the cord at C4-5 and C5-6.
Bilateral degenerative foraminal narrowing, severe at C3-4 through C5-6.

I have a highly qualified NS and am to see him on Tuesday the 18th. I know this report is not good, but would want to know if anyone else has had/has heard of anything of this sort. Also, what would the whole thing entail? Was told that maybe some injections... pain management... possible fusion...

I don't know anyone that I can talk to about this. I know I have to hear the NS' suggestions but would love to hear from others as well. Hoping to hear from you soon...

Well, in laymans language, you have severe bone spurs from C3-4 thru C6-7 with degenerative changes superimposed on developmental canal narrowing resulting in central canal stenosis (narrowing) at C3-4 thru C5-6 with myelomacia (abnormal softening of tissue) within the cord at C4-5 & C5-6.

Bilateral foraminal narrowing (the hole that the nerves travel thru to the spinal cord) severe at C3-4 & C5-6.

I'm glad you're seeing a Neurosurgeon, cause this isn't good. I'm not a doctor, but just a GUESS here - you COULD be a surgical candidate, but I'm not sure. He may just recommend pain management but I really don't know.

Thanks Lee for your reply. I sure will keep you all informed as to what the NS tells me on Tuesday the 18th. It sure is nice to have a site where one can express what and how one feels. Again, many thanks!

When you go to the dr. make sure you have a list of questions posted and leave room for you to write down the answers. DO not hesitate to ask him to repeat his answer and for you re repeat what you wrote down to make sure you have all of your information. I found on line a list of questions to ask a surgeon when interpreting test results, asking about different pain managements techniques and information about a surgeon and surgery. My best advice is be prepared. I will try and locate my questions and forward tehm to you. Good luck
