Stopping Simple Partial Sz.
Hi Folks,
I'm sure many of you have sp sz. such as an aura sz. I often have sp sz. that lead into either a cp sz. or an absence sz. I've been taught to tighten up the muscles of my body the moment I get a nervous feeling in my stomach or start to see colors in my eyes. Then I have to make my hands into tight fists and concentrate on where I'm at telling myself "Your at home in the living room" or where ever I am. By doing this it stops the sp sz. from going into a cp sz. or absence sz. I thought you might want to give it a try and see if it works for you. I've been doing this since the 1970's and it has worked great. Here's wishing all of you well and May God Bless You! Sue |
I have been able to 'talk to myself' (in my head) for around 3-4 months now and find the events to be less scary since then. I have to start off talking and staying VERY focused during the entire episode. Keeping focus and being calm seems to at least lesson the severity. I do this with the parietal seizures since I remain awake but those are extremely painful. This is what taught me that I was able to talk to myself (in my head, because I can't talk aloud during it).

Ellie and Sue hello
Hi my name is jenny and new to all this,
i was just wondering the simple patail seizure Elle you said the seizure is painfull , mine dont hurt at all except for a perminant stiffness of leg muscles. the aura itself is very frightning to me, the feeling rising of terror all over , could you tell me what you meant by pain, is you're a true convultion. please excuse my nievety. i know mine is some sort of eizure and doc sending me for EEG very soon, thankyou any infro at all will help. jen: |
It all depends on where your seizures come from. I can't tighten my hands up into fists because that's already part of my seizures. My aura is in my eyes. It's just not as bad now because part of the scar tissue was removed from behind my left eye when I had brain surgery. In fact, my aura comes too fast for me to be able to do anything about it.
It all depends on what part of the brain the seizure comes from and what type of aura you are going to have. What is going to help one person may not help another person. Becky |

a Psychiatrist! I only had experienced that maybe 4-5 times in my entire life and I have to agree with you 1000000%, not only is it painful, it's worse than Carpal Tunnels and freakier than "hell on earth", and the fact that it grew on you and you couldn't STOP IT or even worse control it! And you're absolutely right about feeling "electrocuted" - I never could find that word to describe it. THANK YOU ELLIE for the explanation - I thought I was loosing my mind back then when it happened. I know what Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is, already had surgery to correct it, and I know I'm supposed to have surgery on the other side but like me, I HATE surgery, I'll put it off as long as I can ... but I can assure you and everyone ... THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING LIKE CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME - PERIOD! (I am not yelling - I am putting an emphasis there) |
Dear Ellie
ok i understand i get electric head pain, travelles from the bottaom of my head travelling up to the top, several times a day. some times it reduces to a scraching or sharp tickle in the brain , like some one is grabbing my brain tissue and sticking their fingernails in it. i wonder if its the same thing????
it changes tho. and sometimes just feels like electic shocks. quick. and intermitent. hugs jen Quote:

Hi my daughter is currently suffering from this and we to were told to see a psychiatrist. She gets these intense feelings like she is being electrocuted and it is not in just one are of the body and when it happens what ever part it is happening in locks up, shakes and she is unable to move it or control it from the movment, she also gets dizzy and when it happens in her legs she falls down. Can anyone tell me what this may be?
Thanks, Amy |
Hi Amy,
I'm no neuro but it sounds like what is happening to your daughter might be a clonic sz. that has happened to me. I will be fine and then my body will start shaking and I fall to the floor I'm unable to control the shaking and my neuro put me on the drug Keppra and since then I haven't had this happen to me once. You might want to see if this will help your daughter. Wishing you and your family the best and May God Bless You! Sue |
