I'm interested in beading...anyone ever?

I've been looking in the craft stores, examining the bead section...I'm kind of scared to jump on board, but it looks quite interesting...
has anyone ever made beaded jewelry? Is it difficult when your have cog fog?

Hi Debbie,

My niece makes it and it isn't too difficult from the way she describes it. She made me a necklace and it's very pretty. :) I bought a beaded bracelet at a craft show in the Wisc Northwoods that's just beautiful and cost about $45. It has Swarovsky crystals in it. So if you can learn to do it you might save some money and have some beautiful pieces for yourself and gifts as well.

I don't bead but my mother and best friend do. My mother taught herself. She makes a killing on her Christmas ear rings and her beaded watches.

My friend won a free lesson at a local craft store and then she was hooked. She took other lessons until she got soom confidence and now she is able to follow directioins in magazines, etc. She sells a lot of her things. They are very pretty and one of a kind.

I say go for it if you are interested. Is there a bead store near you that can give you some advice on getting started?

I've tried it and it's not hard. BUT, don't use the tiny beads, they are hard to string and keep track of. At least for me they are. LOL

I do, and agree with what others have noted: the smaller beads are more difficult to work with.

If you're looking to graduate into doing your own designs, possibly give a bead kit a go initially... and I don't mean the ones where the wire has to be twisted (that can get gnarly at times, too).
