Hi

This is the 1st time i have posted, need people to talk to. Was sent to see the doc in Neuro, from the doc in ENT, i have alot of prob's with sinuses, she did a CT scan and said everything looks ok, but asked me if i had trouble with dizziness, i said yes, thinking it was something to do with the sinus problems. She said she wants me to see a doc in neuro as been having trouble with dizziness, back pain and pins and needles in arms and legs. Doc in ENT did'nt say anything, but doc in neuro told me i have white spots on brain tissue, which may be due to MS. Told him i have Lupus, he saying could be due to the Lupus, MS or not enough B12, he has told me to have a blood test which have had and going for a MRI on Friday. Also said that could be been wrong diganoses 12 years ago and have MS. When was told i had Lupus 12 years ago, have been trying to get help for it, but because they don't know much about it, i have had to deal with it myself despite asking time and time again, but legs and back have been really bad lately and been really, really tired. Doc in neuro was shocked i have not had any help over the last 12 years, even so i am feeling abit confused as to which diease i may have. Trying to think possitive, but sometimes you find yourself thinking about it all without realising it.

HI Emma!

Welcome to the frustrating world have having a neuro issue or issues. It's scary at first, but once you learn about what mite be happening and what can be done for you it'll be a bit less so.
Please keep in mind that many things involving the brain or nerves are diagnosed through the processes of elimination. MRI's Blood tests nerve conduction tests and a whole bunch of other tests combine to try and first determine what you DON'T have then narrow down what you might or actually have.
Here is an outline of how neuro exams start out and the what's and why's of what a neuro doc is/should be looking for when he/she sees you:

Just click onto the blue and you will get a new window and web site.
I hope this helps you understand what is happening when the doc orders tests and the like and why. I know that I'd found this web site after the fact and had a lot of 'Ah-Ha!' moments about some seemingly silly things the doc did which now make sense.
Don't be afraid to ask questions here. No question is really, too silly! Everyone here has asked them at one time or another! - j
