Head bumped after doing so well

This is kind of just venting right now but UGH after doing so well getting bumped is heartbreaking.

I've been doing SO much better lately. I've been tolerant to little bumps and jolts to my head and I've been able to go about my life a lot better than I was in the past year or two since hitting my head. Things have really just been on the up and up. But, a couple days ago I had to go for an EEG just because my doctor couldn't believe I had never gotten one after my concussion before and she just wanted me to get one to be sure everything looked ok. After the EEG, the woman was cleaning the goop off of my head from the electrodes and she was really knocking my head around. I mean really patting my head so hard with her hand to clean it off like essentially hitting it. She was bumping my head so hard that every time she threw her hand down to wipe my head off my vision was vibrating. I really really didn't want to be a pain in the butt and so I didn't say anything and looking back I wish I had. I came home heartbroken and with a serious return of symptoms, a state which I had forgotten what it felt like. Setbacks are just so heartbreaking:(

This sure sounds like an anxiety reaction. After the fatigue of an EEG, you were ripe for any minor trigger. The worst that could have happened is some aggravation of a subtle neck injury. But, based on your description of symptoms, I believe this was an anxiety reaction. I have seen this same reaction with many others from getting a hair cut, shampoo, and similar head movements.

Try to convince yourself that this was not a trauma and you should be able to get back on track.

btw, It is very rare that an EEG is done after a concussion. They will not show anything unless you are having seizures. It makes me question the expertise of this doctor.

A very special EEG called a qEEG, can indicate some concussion issues but a neuro would rarely order one because the neurology board has taken a stand against the usefulness of qEEGs.

Thanks Mark, it definitely just upset me because that's the hardest my heads been knocked around since my concussion for sure and in the wake of such good days it was really upsetting. So anxiety is definitely high. I got in to my head that I wasn't sure how I could walk away from that without a concussion, which I need to get out of my head.

And I should have elaborated but didn't want to make the post too long- I was having tremors throughout my entire body that started about a month ago that turned out to just be a result of low magnesium and vitamin d levels that occurred due to a medication I take which have since gone away now that we got it all squared away. However, before we were sure that it was a drop in my vitamin levels my doctor wanted to rule out seizures with an EEG since there was head trauma in the past.

Tremors without a change in awareness is not a seizure. I get tremors from time to time. Nothing like the seizures I had as a teen. I still question the doctor's knowledge. Sounds more like a covering all bases than an indicated diagnostic.

Don't hesitate to speak up any time a service provider or professional seems to be less than careful.. Can help to avoid any anxiety triggering issues.
