long-term bipolar person wondering how to move on

I haven't written on Neurotalk for 3 years, but am prompted to do so by major transitions in my life. I'm turning 50, my youngest child is leaving home, I have to sell my house. I had been waiting for years for this moment to start a new life. But now, I see with clarity how much destruction the bipolar has wrought, destroying my marriage, my career, my ability to think and remember. I'm wondering what a bipolar person can hope for in this next stage of life. Ideas?

Hi Molly

I'm not sure what you are looking for. But the way I see it.
You need to figure out what kind of life you are looking for?
Find a new place to live in. Is it going to be a small house, apartment.

Then what kind of job would you like? I have a friend who is going
through starting over right now. Kind of in the same situation, but
not bipolar. But I think depression, because she has lost her children.

They are in another state living with her sister, because the state
chose to send them. But she is trying to figure out too where her
life is.

So lets see, what would you like to start with. Give us something you
would like to do. Like are you into art, music, just what.

HI molly welcome back to neurotalk.
I turn 50 on january 1st so this is a big year for me too.
I don't have any children so I can't relate to the empty nest stage but I do know that I don't like being left alone. I am a mess when my husband leaves me for a few days.I am sorry for the major changes that you have had to experience....this is my second husband and a keeper.
YOu have RSD too. Are you in a lot of pain from this?
I am glad that you turned to us. We will listen to you and help you on your new path....you are not alone.

Hi,

If you are selling because you want to and you feel good about the decision, then you can move on to your next decision.

There is lots to look forward to. I working on living in the moment -- feeling fully alive in each moment --- still working on it.

Do you have activities you like?
How does your son feeling about your giving up the house?
