Hi,

I am considering the IUD and was hoping to get as much feedback as possible....good or bad. I really appreciate any and all responses.

I did well with mine - 2 @ 6 yrs each time. no problems at all.

* have had a pelvic infection following either childbirth or an abortion in the past three months
* have or may have a sexually transmitted infection or other pelvic infection

* have unexplained bleeding in your vagina
* have pelvic tuberculosis

I tried one after my DD was born because I was unable to tolerate oral contraception, but I couldn't stand the side effects.

I didn't have a history of anything listed by Jo*Mar above, but I did end up having mine removed after about 6 months because of increased bleeding and nasty dysmenorrhoea.

I was among the small percent that don't tolerate them but it's good to get both sides when making a decision. In the end, I guess you just have to listen to what your doctor tells you, read what you can about them and then weigh up the pros and cons.

I appreciate both your input on this!! This is more of a precaution for cancer since I have irregular periods versus using for actual birth control. My doctor highly recommends it but I just wanted to get more information on it. I've researched a lot of data type information on it but I always like to hear it from people who have actually used it. It's amazing what more you can learn that way!

I have an IUD, and LOVE it. It is so much easier than worrying about a pill, ring, etc. I have had very few side effects. I had some bleeding for a few months, but do not have any at all now, and I am going on 1 1/2 years since insertion.

Dont know about the new ones but sure look like the ones I used before my hysterectomy thought they had been banned till saw in magazine yes they said probably reason. Had surgery at 28
