Question about DMSO

I was thinking about trying DMSO for my muscle pain however my PM told me it is a wacky substance that can cause harm...Any thoughts?

Hi Debbie,
My grandmother used DMSO for arthritis over 25 yrs ago and had no ill effects at all except that it smells bad. You could smell it coming out of her pores but it did help her pain.

That's all I know,
Peace and hope,
Lisa

I haven't searched it on the web recently {about 5 yrs ago I did}

There is a difference in the grades of DMSO- some is for veterinary use {livestock} and not as pure as the human grade.

If I remember correctly- whatever is on your skin will get absorbed along with the DMSO -lotion, dirt, whatever...

It stinks too!

I googled a list of info sites you can check it our more on the links-

Hi Deb.
Don't know a thing about it myself, but I remember there was quite a bit about it on the old board. What a pity that database isn't there! However, you might try googling for it, some of that info is archived - so put in something like:
braintalk DMSO
then click on "repeat search with omitted results" and remember to click the "cached" thingy for whatever results come up....
Good luck,
all the best

Hi Debbie,
I know a bit about it, but what kind of harm did your Doctor say it could cause?

Since your on Pycnogenol which is a strong antioxident. DMSO is also real strong. So I personally would not do both.

I have just gotten the Pycnogenol, I plan on taking a little C & E with it. Hugs, Roz

thanks

Thanks for your responses...I think it is harmful because it can bring anything on your skin into your system- dirt etc-guess i will stay away from it for now

Debbie
