Thought I would check in

Its been a while since I posted anything. I am on Lyrica 3 times a day. I helps a little. I am also on 500 mg of Naproson 2 times a day then another pain medication tamadol 50 mg. Most of the time I am so dopey I have trouble functioning. I am still able to work. I'm a retired teacher but now a teacher's assistant. I am 67. I have to be very careful about what I eat or drink. Nothing cold or hot. I had an appointment with a neurologist but we had an ice and snow storm and had to cancel the appointment. It will be another month before he can see me. I just hope he knows what he is doing. Sometimes the pain breaks through all the medication. It is so bad that I think I will have a stroke. One spasm lasted 45 minutes. It was horrible. It helps to read the other posts.

Wiletha, good of you to post how you have been doing. yes the meds do take a while to get used to ands then they add or switch and you have to allow for more time to adjust. I can imagne how hard it is to not be teacher anymore, i just lost my job cus of my face. I have a few teacher friends who go to my writing group and they are priceless!!!!!!! one is retired and one is a tutor and the other is an english teacher at a highschool. what did/do you teach? do we have a english or a math teacher ? Teachers are priceless!!!! so are you!!!!!!
on food your right nothing to hot or to cold and nothing to hard to chew.
also eat small but more often . how are you sleeping?
when your get those pain spells.. do you pratcie relaxation breathing and the such meditation / stress reduction? it is good to learn things like that they have classes and stuff. dose eating with silverwear bother you? i have to use plastic spoon and straws. one time a few years back it was like putting a fork into an electrical socket I zapped myself into a big one and just froze the fork fell I knocked over my water and just froze it was like :holysheep:
i went faded in and out for like 10 mins then it eased up . and that is what scares cus it is like being eletricuted at various times and then your afraid to do anything or move ... and that is when it is a blessing to know relaxation and breathing and other little tricks to get past it on a good note.
Please post soon again let us know how the visit went with this neuro . I will have you in my prayers and positive thoughts . keep eating small bites and get your rest many good blessings to you.
Peace
Burntmarshmallow...Tina

Hi again

Thanks for the reply. When I retired from teaching I had taught 5th grade for 15 years. Before that I taught first and second grades on alternate years for 15 years. I would get bored with one then go to the other. I really liked 5th though. I taught reading, math and science. My favorites were math and science. As a teachers assistant I an in charge of the in-school suspensions and the noon detentions. I really like that ,too.
I think my doctor finally has my meds all regulated, for now anyway. I have been pain free for the last two days. She increased my cymbalta to 60 mg a day. That seems to keep the pain under control. I haven't seen the neuro yet. Most nights I am able to sleep. I just have to be careful and not lay on that side. My teeth really did hurt. I am still really, really careful about eating. I take very small bites and chew very slow. I hope this medication lasts for a long time. I just hope it doesn't come back with a vengence.

I am hoping all goes well with you, it's good you are getting relief from the lyrica. It has helped me too. Keep a log of what works and what does not with your daily activities. Take good care. Jen
