Uni studies exercise benefits for Parkinson's sufferers

Neuroscientists at the University of Bedfordshire are teaming up with Polish counterparts to study the effect of exercise on sufferers of Parkinson's Disease.

A team of seven academics is working with a group from the Academy of Medical Sciences in Warsaw to carry out in-depth research monitoring changes in cells.
"As well as looking at the various proteins that are lacking in patients, we will examine the impact exercise has on the cells, boring down into the nucleus to examine their very make-up.

"It is well documented that exercise increases the production of calcium, which in turn induces the production of dopamine in the brain. This research may lead
to the improved neurological condition of Parkinson's patients."
