Sore, Stiff Knee
 

I have a sore, stiff knee now for about 1 week. I do not remember hitting it on anything. It is not swollen. Can this be associated with PD?
I have temors only on the left side, currently on Azilect & Mirapex meds, and it is the left knee that is stiff.
Anyone else have this? Is this PD or something else?

the same thing happened to me
 

About 10 days ago my left knee started to ache. It still hurts and doesn't seem to be getting better. I did not bump or injure it. I aso wondered if it was a pd symptom. I take only azilect and no other PD meds

It could be arthritis, or some other joint-related syndrome. Do you live in the cold, damp wintery north? The dampness doesn't help with joint problems.

The other thing too is that you might be putting pressure on one particular knee because of your gait. I have PD mainly on my right side and tend to put my pressure on my left leg. As a result, my left knee and foot tend to bother me more than the right side even though I had extensive surgery on the right foot due to a clubbed-foot correction.

Hope this is something that helps for food for thought. If you're in a lot of pain, see if you can contact an orthopaedic specialist about it.

thanks for the input. idon't have a severe gait problem but it may be enough to do just what you said. i am giving it another week and then off to the ortho.

My right knee and leg hurt when I don't use my cane because I drag my left foot. My PD symptoms are on my left side. I recently was having a problem with both knees hurting when going up stairs. The x-rays did show some arthritis, but the doctor said the arthritis wasn't very bad and said my pain was chondromalacia patellae, which I found out is also known as housemaid's knee. He gave me some exercises to do to strengthen the muscles.

All it takes is walking slightly off kilter to cause knee and joint pain. The other thing to check to is your shoes or sneakers. Make sure you have a good heel and sole on them. If they are slightly worn so that your foot twists in, this can definitely cause knee and hip problems - been there and done that. The other thing too is poor shoes like this can lead to falls, as I've found out too. Since I've replaced my shoes, my knees feel better and I don't fall as much.
