Some additives make PN pain worse.. Notably the MSG that is in most processed foods. Some people react to Nutrisweet (aspartame) with headaches.

Some people are gluten intolerant and this can also lead to nerve pain.

And some find that nightshade veggies, cause burning pain. Potatoes, tomatoes, all kinds of peppers, and eggplant. This is most likely due to either the capsaicin (peppers) or the solanine in the others which is an alkaloid some people do not metabolize away properly.

Red wines, other wines, and beers contain yeast, congeners of fermentation(often aldehydes), and polyphenols which irritate nerves. Some contain sulfites which some people react to.

Foods that are fermented, may contain histamines. Poorly kept fish flesh can also have a high histamine content. Histamines cause tingling, burning and rashes in sensitive people.
I have a histamine thread on the subforum here you can read the details of this.

So yes many foods can be irritating, but not all of them equally to everyone.
