New antibody info
Hey folks,
For those of you who continue to test negative for Achr and Musk, there's a new antibody related to MG. LRP4 (Low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 4) I'm achr positive so this doesn't effect me but for those of you having trouble getting your diagnosis, you may want to inquire about this with your doctors http://truthdive.com/2012/02/09/Unus...r-fingers.html |
That's a great find! Thanks. I think I like this statement in the article best:

Agrin is only one of the many little areas of the NMJ. Let's hope they keep finding more of that iceberg. Annie |
That is a very great find Brennan - thx for sharing with all!

Wow, thanks! That's really useful information. I don't suppose they can test for that antibody yet, but eventually they should be able to. Meanwhile, let's hope that just the fact that they know it's out there will get some more seronegative MG patients a diagnosis.

Also the VGKC antibodies
Besides this new one, the AChR's and MuSK, there's also the VGKC (potassium ion channel) antibodies that can be associated with MG.
"Patients with VGKC antibodies may have associated myasthenia gravis with or without acetylcholine receptor antibodies" http://www.pnseuronet.org/vgkc.php This is not the same thing as VGCC antibodies associates with LEMS. This test protocol page from Mayo clinic mentions these as well as others: http://www.mayomedicallaboratories.c...Overview/83370 Here is a video of a woman I "know" who tested positive for VGKC antibodies. With the connection to the potassium channels, she was thinking an autoimmune form of periodic paralysis, but I know she's been looking into MG more recently, as PP episodes usually occur during a rest period AFTER exercise, while according to Annie, fatiguable weakness is the hallmark of MG. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfuzY...eature=mh_lolz |
