Anyone had dentures after TN...

I'm terrified. I need all my teeth out -- ws getting the back ones out when this TN started. I need the rest out - and I can get anyone in the Kansas City area to call me about a consulation of who would be the best person to have knowledge of Tn and be able to give me quick and affordable dentures. Should I not get the ones with implants? I'm afraid if I do upper and lower on different days that I'll chicken out on the rest -- I have terrible teeth and just want to wake up with pretty teeth - I'm 47. What are your experiences? I've been emailing periodontists, Facial Pain specialists etc. Not just any old oral surg. Want to get a recommendation from somebody knowledgeable in the field. Right now on Trileptal in remission - only had this 3 months.

Thanks!

I don't have to have all my pulled yet. I'm fighting to hang on to what I can. my teeth are a wreck too. I'm only 45 and until last year hadn't had a cavity for 15yrs and then wham! I had 19 cavities and had to 6 teeth pulled! I'm in the somewhat the same boat as you. I have to have 2 molars pulled the first of the year on my TN side. I'm scared to death he may cause further damage to the nerve. My insurance changed and the oral surgeon I wanted doesn't take it so I have no choice but to go this guy and I seen him back in June and had 2 teeth pulled, long story short I woke up before he was done and was yelling and sobbing while he pulled the last one out. I even had a vivd nightmare about him last night and that he had pulled and messed me up really bad. I spent the dream trying to get in contact with him and reporting him to some woman about the treatment I rec'd! I'm sure I will be a basket case the day I go to him. I don't have a choice thanks to my dental insurance changing and I'm really angry about that. Please let me know what you find out and when you get your dentures. I will be getting a partial and I wondered how that would work too. Wishing you lots of luck and keep me informed.
Robyn

Denture Fear--

I have done some research - and most people who have bottom dentures usually don't even wear them.....because they just don't stay in...In a perfect world I would yank one tooth at a time - and get a partial till their all gone -- and now there are so many options but I just don't know if I can go have 1 tooth pulled at a time x20

I'll post when I get some answers or a consultation --- guess I'll just have to make some phone calls -- we have to be our own advocates!

Do you have a Dental College anywhere around you.... They do it cheap - but sometimes must wait.

Denture disasters

I went to Grove Oklahoma to Denture and Dental services to have many teeth pulled at the same time. They will actually put your new Dentures in right after your teeth are out and it helps stop any bleeding. They kind of act like a plug. I have tried to wear the bottom Dentures but to no avail. It just ain't
gonna happen. Some of the problem is that on the t.n. side, I am numb so it is a little bit harder for me.
When I tried out the bottom dentures to eat or drink, it was a disaster. I think I ended up chewing on the dentures and almost swallowing them.......................Good luck people!

Well that's all scary! I had planned on getting a partial for my bottom back molars so I can eat but if they don't stay in place I don't know what I'll do. It's hard enough to deal with the idea of it being in my mouth to begin with. I have a phobia considering dentures. If I seen some I start gagging and will throw up if they stay in my sight. I've always had this problem. Doesn't denture adhesive work to keep the bottom in place? Ugghh now I'm just more confused and upset!!!!

Denture disasters

I have tried poligrip, fixodent and one that you cut the shape of the denture and lay a lining inside. If I didn't talk, eat, or drink I still wouldn't be OK with them as I can't stand the way they feel. IRK! I looked forward to these new teeth as I would finally have a great smile and not hide my mouth with my hand. I have this urge to bury them in the backyard!
Remember this is only my experience and yours may be totally different.

Grove OK - WOW

I had a friend who lived in Grove who got Top dentures --- and loves them -- but she did not have TN -- She said people from many metro areas go there -- I've lost the contact -- what a small world! I still need to start researching -- scared!
