My first neuro appt
 

Well please forgive me if I have posted this in the wrong area. I had my first appt with a neuro last Thursday because my rheumy felt that I had many symptoms that were neurological and questioned neuropathy and/or MS. Well I wrote down all my symptoms and conditions even if not neuro related and took them with me...I had 50 total (nice long list for a 29 year old). The doctor talks to me a few minutes and then does the physical exam.

Afterward he tells me that everything seems normal. He believes me that I have the symptoms but thinks its psychological!! So in other words he doesn't believe me...He said he would do MRI because I have never had one but that he thinks it will be normal. Yes I have bipolar and fibromyalgia but that doesn't mean everything I ever complain of can be said its in my head!! What is with these doctors?!?! I get so frustrated...Anyway thanks for listening to my vent. I have been down since my appt and not really sure what I will do next. Guess wait for MRI results.

:hug:I'm so sorry your first appt went so wrong. I'd be looking for another Neuro. Not all doctors have the right bedside manner and this one clearly is not for you.

It seems like whenever they cannot find a direct physical reason for any symptom it all of a sudden becomes "in your head".

MS is a hard disease to diagnose but once you find the right doctor things will begin to be better. Good luck and keep us posted. :hug:

What a turd your Neuro is..:rolleyes: I hate when they do that..:mad: Tell him if your illness is neurological, then of course it's in your head..... and spine..:D

The thing is, if you are in the early stages of MS or whatever, it may not yet show up on an MRI. The meds you take for fibromyalgia may help with a neuro prob too.

If I were you, I'd sit tight and see how your symptoms go for awhile. If the numbness, tingling and other neuro sx continue to worsen, then an MRI may tell more.

Try to relax a little and live each day. Do something nice for yourself..:hug::hug:

Sally after doing research I found I am on at least 2 meds that should be helping symptoms. Also I have had the numbness, tingling, and many of the neuro sx for a decade or more. I have had numerous doctors dismiss it as migraines or fibro. My current rheumy is first doctor that has been concerned about it. The fun will be I guess finding the right neuro if the MRI shows nothing.
