Skin Test For SFN?
I joined this forum in 2010 soon after I was diagnosed with Small Fiber Neuropathy. I haven't been on for a while because I've been fortunate, and my symptoms have been manageable. Recently, however, things seem to be advancing. It's hard to tell if this worsening is due to unusual recent stress or the normal course of the disease. Be that as it may, I have never had a skin test to verify my diagnosis. My doctor did not think it was necessary, and I did not argue. Now, for insurance purposes, if nothing else, I would like to have the test done.
My question today is: Is the skin test still the diagnostic standard for SFN, or have things changed since I last visited NeuroTalk? Is a neurologist the type of doctor that I should go to for the test? Thanks & Good Wishes to all here. |
Yes, the skin biopsy to the best test for confirming SFN and your neurologist is the one to order it.

^^Thanks, en bloc.
