I wrote a poem!

Yes. A silly poem about some of the drugs I've been on. You must forgive me, because I wrote it right after my dose increased and at 4 am to boot.

Ahem. Cue bongos.

My pain made clear that I required
a pharmaceutical corrective,
so first was indomethicin
which was not at all effective.

Then the tiny elavil,
which turned me quite defective!
I slept the day away, waking
to eat and bathe and cry.
I explained it to my teachers
so they'd know I wasn't high.

Then zonegran-
it made me deaf
And depakote-
it made me puke

Then neurontin, now that really is the stuff.
It would have been much nicer if they'd given me enough.

Carbatrol, (which took away my pain) surely must be right?
Unfortunately it also made me wander 'round at night.

And now back to neurontin,
and here I am to stay.
At least until remission,
and the pain all goes away.

:D

Incidentally, nearly each stanza represents a different age: 15, 16, 17, 19, 19 again, and 20 through present. I hope this was at least mildly entertaining.

I second Frankie's post. Very good indeed.

I do hope you'll get a remission soon. Of course, I hope we all will and that will be the last of this blasted condition.

Thanks, guys! (In the gender-inclusive midwestern sense of "guys.")

Fingers crossed for remission for us all. :)

In the meantime, if inspiration strikes again, I shall post the ridiculous result.

Very entertaining and thoughtful! I believe that we can see something positive in having this disorder. We can still laugh, we can share our stories and best of all we can know we are not alone in this...Hope you get relief from your pain!!! Sorry you suffer with this at such a young age...Thanks for sharing, Mar
