Burning toes
I just need to vent here because my toes are on fire and its very unpleasant. I'm still doing the B6, niacin, B12, and I added magnesium to the mix to see if it helps the stiffness and ankle pains, and there's no change. I know I need to wait and I shouldn't expect a change this fast, but its getting worse. So, thanks for putting up with my rant! |
Hi,
I get burning sensations in my toes and any other part of my foot which goes numb easily, like my heels, particularly if there is sustained pressure on them. I did notice that you thought there may be a hereditary factor with your PN, ie HMSN, CMT or possibly HNPP. High doses of vitB6 are thought to be toxic to HMSN compromised nerves, there is a medical alert on the CMTA website which lists all Medications and Supplements which are considered potentially toxic, Unfortunately I can't give you the link, because I haven't posted often enough... :Hum: If you google for "CMT medical alert" you should be able to find the page |
I have had the burning sensation on my toes and the top of my feet for years. More recently my finger tips are burning. I do believe the medical term is dysesthesias. Dysesthesias can be caused by problems in the central nervous system as well as the peripheral nervous system. If you search the medical term there is lots to read.

vitamin b1 helped with the burning in my feet. also interferential therapy, a tens type electrical therapy greatly helped also.

At my next appointment, I plan to discuss this with my Doctor and get his thoughts about it. So far, it seems as though they are saying mine is idiopathic, but a lot of the symptoms fit CMT. The burning isn't limited to my toes as I get it in other parts of the foot too, just last night they were not compressed in any way and they were on fire. This is a strange condition isn't it.

That's the site. I was going to post it. Thank you.
