Greetings!

So very happy to have happened upon this site. I think it will be very helpful to me, and I hope that in return I may be of help to someone else.

It's going to take me a while to learn how to navigate the site, but for now, I thought I'd just tell you a bit about myself.

I am 52, married, mother of two sons, "Nonna" to two awesome little grandaughters, and the "expectant Nonna" of a new little luvie next Spring!

I am currently not working due to a litany of physical/emotional issues, but have worked in the past as both a legal secretary and nursing assistant.

So.... to the problems that bring me here - I have been anxious for as long as I can remember, going back to my very early teens. Depression developed about 15 years ago, and now I am being treated with Zoloft, Lamictal, Klonopin, Lyrica, and a number of other meds to treat the severe osteoarthritis I've had since my mid-30's.

Despite a number of trials with other anti-ds, I have found the best results with the good old Zoloft. The Lamictal was added in as an adjunct to the Zoloft, and the Klonopin keeps me in my skin most days. The Lyrica is relatively new (since April), and it SEEMS to help with my newly diagnosed fibromyalgia.

But despite all of these pharmecuticals along with a number of supplements (fish oil, MSM, B-complex, magnesium, etc.), I don't feel well. Don't remember the last time I did!!!

To compound issues, I am peri-menopausal, and I know that my dwindling hormones are adding to my angst.

So that's that..... if anyone has any ideas on how I may help myself, I welcome your input.

Again, it is SO comforting to know that I am not alone in our type of struggles.

Sue

Welcome

:welcome_sign:You have definitely come to the right place. The folks here will let you rant, rave, whine, cry or even throw a tantrum worthy of a toddler grandbaby way late for a nap. In fact, the only thing they won’t let you do is give up.

Until I suffered a brain injury, I’d never experienced depression. Now I can’t tell you how much respect I have for folks who’ve had to battle the “blue monster” for years or even decades. In addition to the medications, are you getting any talk therapy with a competent professional?

Congratulations on the pending grandchild! What woman doesn’t love that new baby smell?

Cheers
