I had a vision (not a Celestial one) that woke me up

Ok, so I have been trying to sell my old entertainment center that went around my old 57 inch TV for a long time with no takers. Seems nobody wants them since everyone is buying the LCD or Plasma TV's now. So I have been frustrated because I want a smaller TV stand to put my LCD tv on.....

Well, in my sleep last night I had a vision/dream to not sell my old unit but to reclaim it into something else...a Bar. My current bar is WAY too small, doesn't hold near the number of glasses or wine bottles I have in it. So for minimal cost (I hope) I am going to shorten it and make it into a bar. The unit is the type with two end tower units and two connecting bridges. I will shorten the bridges, make it about 3 feet apart and make it into a bar. I will post pic's of the before and after when I can.

COOL, yea for me.

That's a great idea. Can't wait to see the pictures. I can't tell you the number of times I have gotten rid of a piece of furniture, table, chair and later said you know I could have used that here.

way to go!

I recently got rid of my old, monster 50 inch projection TV. it still worked great, but had some issues, and its a HUGE, heavy monster, and there are tons and tons of tiny flat screens out there. I donated it to the Learning center downtown. They take care of underpriviledged children, and some paying customers whos parents have no place else to take them. Got a nice tax write off, and the kids can now watch a huge TV to see their learning videos.

I love that you are being creative. It will make a nice bar for ya. Please include pics of your project. Before and after shots are a good thing!

I'd love to get a plasma tv in the basement. I have a 50something inch 9yr old projection tv down here. My mom has the plasma tv upstairs. (she doesnt appreciate that plasma as much as I would!)

Plus we've got the big shelf enclosure around the projection tv. If we had a flat screen on the wall, we'd have a ton more room in the family room. Maybe when my sister gets here later this year. (she's moving the family back here) I wonder if she'll need a big tv for the kids to play their Wii on?

Oh wait...dad's going to spend the new tv money on new carpeting. We have 8yr old white, builder's grade carpet that had 5 years of 100+ pound, hairy, black dog on it. I think we'll get new carpet first.

Well, at least I can have my own tv in my room hung on the wall when I move my ginormous computer hutches out of my room after we get new carpet. (I have two computer hutches, tossing one, might re-purpose the other as a storage cabinet) Hanging my tv on the wall will open up some space in my room. Not sure how I'm storing my computers after that tho.

Cool, Earl.

In the olden days they said:

Use it up
Wear it out
Make it do
Or do without.

I think they call it "repurposing" noawadays.

Ok, the piece of ART aka. new bar is now complete, I have poured my first beer at it and LOVE it. My brother-in-law did the work and I gotta say, the man is talented.

He even matched the dental molding from the crown molding trim on top to match on the bottle racks and the bar top.

Enclosed are a few pic's of the before and after. The ones of the after are very dark, I will take some more tomorrow to show you better detail.

(sorry the old ent. center pic is sideways, for some reason I posted it right-side-up and it turned it. )
