My Moms Goodwill find
 

My Mom likes very simple art. Some of it she does herself. She has always believed she has some Amish in her blood. So she and my sister went to Goodwill and found this lovely folk art picture of a woman tending her sheep. It was signed by Carol Endres. It also had a number 2105/2500. So I figured it had to be a limited print. So I did some Internet searching today and found the same painting "Abigal" 108 of 2500 going for $155. Mom paid 50 cents for hers. It looks in perfect condition. Only problem was that I told Mom right before she went to bed. I'm not sure she will sleep. I know an earlier print is worth more that #2105 but still it is worth a lot more than 50 cents. My Mom just love to discover treasures in a Goodwill. She has found more fine crystal and silver there and just takes it home and polishes it.

Good for her! I just love Goodwill and thrift stores. You can really find some treasures if you look hard enough. :)

My mother is a "treasure hunter" for the goodwill, salvation army places too. She calls it rag pulling. She has found some nice stuff. New clothes with tags still on them, for pennies. working appliances and jewels (costume) that suit her nicely. I used to cringe when she would take us there as kids, but now can see her obsession. She is good at being thrifty, and shopping there helps her be able to shop. She wouldnt have half as much fun in the big name stores.

My sister started her antiquing (sp?) by getting something out of the garbage and selling it at her garage sale. Only to find out it was worth way more than what she could have imaged. Since that day she educated herself about antiques and started scouring thrift stores and garage sales, buying items and selling them for a profit. Now she buys antiques and resells them at a profit. She has a small business and it's amazing how much she can make on stuff others consider junk.
