Unsolicited Health Insurance Faxes

Has anyone here received unsolicited faxes about health care or any other topic?

Last night around 10:30, I received a fax from an unidentified company, asking for info so I could sign up for affordable health insurance through their "A+ rated company". Their fax number was area code 902.

I thought this was really weird and the late hour fax would have really irked me more if it had woke me. Now my fax is off, so no more surprises.

Can you block numbers from calling your fax machine like you can block numbers on your land line?

when I leave my fax plugged in I get all sorts of weird stuff. Vacation rentals, time share stuff, car insurance stuff...the list goes on.

I leave it turned off now, unless I am expecting a fax. it ticks me off to waste my ink on such nonsense.

This is the first unsolicited fax I have ever gotten and I have had a fax machine for about 6 years. I have no idea how they got my fax #.

On the fax was a website to go to in order to unsubscribe. The site is www.nationaldonotfaxlist.com.

It seemed like a real site, so I filled in my # to be placed on their list.

The whole thing seemed strange to me. Since dejibo tells about getting such faxes, it must be for real and until now I had just been lucky and not been bugged by such salesmen.

The fax didn't have my name on it, so it must be a general fax that uses reems of phone numbers in the hopes of catching a fax or two.

What a racket.

We got dozens of such faxes each month at our business for the entire eight years. Not only health insurance "offers" but investment "opportunities", vacation offers, etc... We signed up for the do not call list too, to no avail.

Some of them would change the company name and refax after we requested them to take us off their list. We used an inkjet fax machine there too so it was expensive. We had to leave it on all night though. Some vendors faxed at night and the occasional customer.
