Head - forehead questions
 

For those of you who have hydrocephalus as do I please offer any input you can. I was diagnosed with hydrochephalus and shunted six years ago at the age of 55. Now as I am approaching 63 I am developing some symptoms that are unfamiliar. My headaches are getting worse and more frequent- very vivid dreams each night. Noticable bumps on my head. My neurosurgeon has said he can't do any more. Is this something I shoud just accept?

I'd say get a second opinion. That would be best.

If you're suffering more headaches than usual, that's a concern. I used to get very vivid dreams, too, but discovered it was from the medications I was on. Perhaps, you should check the side effects of your meds on the net and see if vivid dreams are there. I'm in the same boat as you. I'm 54 and have a VP shunt that's not doing enough. I have some noticeable bumps on my head and some swelling in my face. But the doctors are all saying the same thing, the pressure is getting worse, but the benefits of a surgery to revise the shunt are outweighed by the dangers of such a surgery. So I just live each day the best I can. l have medications for seizures and to go to sleep, but they took all my narcotic pain relievers away (too many people selling them on the street here). So I survive on my seizure meds and generic Tylenol for the pain. With two neurosurgeons and a neurologist all saying there's nothing else they can do, I guess I just have to accept it.
