Scoliosis

Hi, I'm new here. Just wondered if there is anybody here with scoliosis or had surgery for scoliosis?

I'm almost 7 months out from spinal fusion surgery. I've been fused T4-pelvis and doing great. Hoping to chat to others pre or post surgery.

Hi,
I have scoliosis too and am waiting to see how to get mine fixed. Wow, how do you feel having all your Lumbar fused? Were you not a candidate for ADR?

Bill

Hi Bill, my flexibility has been reduced but slowly returning. At first I couldn't shave my legs, put socks on or trim my toenails. I finally pulled my foot up high enough onto the opposite thigh the other night to trim my toenails so there's nothing I can't do now. I washed my car for the first time today, I've been gardening, kayaking, swimming and snorkelling. Swimming is the hardest. When I'm on my tummy I feel like my head isn't high enough out of the water so I'm very awkward, but floating on my back is just fine.

Sorry, I don't know what ADR is.

How big is your curve and have you seen a spine Ortho?

Adr--

--if I'm not mistaken, is "artificial disk replacement" in this context.

Thanks glenntaj, I didn't know that. I have never heard of artificial disk replacement as a treatment for scoliosis but I'm hoping Bill will enlighten me. My curve was 68 degrees and my spine was rotating anti-clockwise so I think I needed a little more help than disk replacement. I have two rods from my upper back to sacrum, anchored into my pelvis with 23 screws and a few cross bars.
