Rapid Pulse
I went in for my usual check-up at the Doctors office. The medical assistant Tracey was checking my blood pressure and she looked concerned.
I told her "with all the things that are not quite right with me at least my blood pressure is always normal". She said my blood pressure was high and I had a high pulse rate. My blood pressure was 145/98 and my pulse rate was 98! The Doctor came in and checked my heart and lungs and made an appointment for me to see the (really cute) heart specialist October 6th. I am anxious to see the heart Doc and hopefully he can fix whatever is wrong and give me an extended warranty! :) |
Are you on blood pressure meds? If not, it sounds like you might be soon! I've been on them for the past seven years.

Ooooh, your heart might beat even faster for that cute specialist! Keep us posted, k? Hope its something as simple as taking a pill.

Could be a multitude of things. Even being triggered by the doctor/white coat syndrome.
We're all different and what's high could be your new normal. I usually rattle around the high 90's. When I had thyroid issues it was generally 130. (great for weight loss! ). When I was in training for triathlons, I could get it as high as 210 and recover back to 90 very quickly. My mum's is also fast. They wouldn't let her out of hospital after having me until it dropped. When it became obvious it wasn't going to slow up, they let her go anyway and it's been higher since. As for your BP, try diet modifications before meds I reckon. and relaxation techniques etc. Try not to worry, and keep us posted on the cardio talent :) |
This can happen right before, during or after menopause due to the change in hormones. One of my friends is going through this right now. She always had perfect BP and pulse and now it is whacked out. The doc told her that the drop in estrogen during / after "the change" affects this. He also told her that it isn't something you can use diet and exercise to control, it usually requires a low dose BP medicine, but that it is very common in women.

Whenever the Doc comes in and a high BP shows on the chart...he rechecks it at the end of our visit and it always goes right back down to normal... That was my old meany Doc....my new Doc is just so friendly and compassionate, my BP is always normal..:D
I hope it was just a fluke, Janie.. |
I told my R.N. neighbor about the blood pressure and rapid pulse thing and I may need a bp med.
Her Doctor has her on Cialis as it lowers blood pressure in women! I checked with our prescription coverage and it will cover Cialis at 90% if I take it but only 10% for my DH. Strange drug; it lowers blood pressure in women and raises "awareness" in men??  |
I had a probem with a high pulse rate for several weeks the one time I took iv steriods. I am also on baclofen hct for high blood pressure. It has kept mine under control.

Raises "Awareness" in men, Janie? Wish the TV commercials were that subtle, lol!
