the job ad is gone
the ad for the tech writer job is gone.
the "real important one" that i have been trying to apply for (getting materials ready between feeling messed up). i did foresee this eventuality when i found the ad, so i saved out the page containing the email address for applications ... so i can still apply. but i guess i will have to really get on top of it. i completed my tailored resume's this morning (both languages). it was after that that i found the ad was gone, thank goodness, or i might have been too disappointed to even get the resume's done. i had wanted to shorten my cover letter but it can go as it is i suppose. i was hoping to have more time/leeway. since they said they wanted to hire by end 2009, there is some vague hope they will have a longish interview process even though they did not renew the ad. but it could also mean they already hired someone. :Sigh: ~ waves ~ |
Awww waves, I'm so sorry. I would apply this week, MONDAY if you can be ready by then, Good Luck!! Good job getting the resume done, you CAN do this if you get it in ASAP. :D I'm sending positive vibes to you on this. :D

yeah...
i'll try...
:o i gotta have someone look over the resumes for me and make sure i didn't "mix languages" ROFL, that would be a disaster! because i wrote them simultaneously, and i cut/pasted different bits into each side, wrote some fresh stuff on both sides, and then "aligned" - i.e. translated the missing portions in both directions. plus i need to make sure the template is totally translated too (headings etc). for a writing job having all the i's dotted and t's crossed is so important. but, like you say, i have to get it in ASAP at this point or however pretty it is, someone else will likely get there first. wahhh. i was so hopeful about this. and tech writer jobs are a rarity!!! i saw a translator opening today - i am qualified for that too... and i could probably use the same resume... thank goodness... because, i am SOOOOOOOO TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRED right now. well, one thing at a time i think. thanks for the vibes... need all i can get! :D:);) ~ waves ~ |
yes I agree to go ahead and apply still.
sending you much luck and encouragement as possible. bizi:hug: |
Dear Waves,
(Darn. I answered this post early this morning and went to bed. I messed up somehow because I don't see my own post.) Anyway, I' sorry about the ad being gone and I'm glad that their is a different ad you have noticed. That is so great that you have got a lot done with the two resumes. That is a lot of work. And a big deal. :) :) Mari |
Waves. I'm not sure I agree on applying on Monday. I've always heard that busineses are playing catch up on Mondays and don't bother to look at resumes coming in. Fridays are bad also because everyone has the weekend on the brain. If it were me I'd wait till Tuesday.
I'm proud of you for getting done with the resumes that you've already done. Never give up hope either. Maybe now that you have their contact email you can keep it in case you may need it in the future if you don't get hired this year. I've gotten more jobs by just cold calling places and asking if they have job openings before they place an ad than by any other method. I wish you well on this. Barbara |

I think its also possible that they just didn't get a new ad in for the job. But I too think applying is good. |
erghh... feeling nervous.
thank you all for the support and for your thoughts and suggestions about this. Barbara that is a really good idea about keeping the email address for this place as a possible cold-calling (emailing) resource.
if i can, i will send out today (Monday). but likely late afternoon, so it probably won't be processed till tomorrow. or, perhaps i will just work on getting the email set to go today, and then shoot it off in the evening so they get it first thing tomorrow (Tuesday). i haven't got started on things today yet. ok, here's the list. 1. put the docs on my USB key 2. get on my parents' computer with the printer and print them. 3. get mom (i have avoided telling dad about my job hunt this time) to scan everything. 4. repeat steps 2 & 3 until everything is good to go. 5. write the email. 6. attach the files VERRRRY C-A-R-E-F-U-L-L-Y (you'd not believe the times i've messed this up, gulp.) 7. *spooked* ... press send but right now i have to breathe. :o:eek::o ~ waves ~ |
Dear Waves,
Keep breathing. I like your list. You'll be able to follow your list and reach completion. Mari |
Waves
Mari is right you have a great list. Keep up the positive thinking. Donna |
