Batton down the hatches
Granddoody is just now getting over the 'norovirus', stomach flu. However, it remains in your system for up to 2 weeks for others to catch.
Daughter started with the diarrhea and vomiting at midnight. Son-in-law started at 9 am this morning. Daughter also has some kind of influenza and her chest hurts really bad. They both have bad headaches, which means poor grandoody probably did. Daughter called me at 10 am and begged me to take grandoody and my brain wanted to collapse. She said she'd tried to get ahold of the other grandma, but she didn't answer her phone. Well, when I said yes, I'll be down to get him, the other grandma called on her cell and said she'd come pick him up. Well, other grandma is extremely healthy active woman. Me...there are a few spots beneath my skull that don't hurt. Now I feel guilty, very guilty, guilty guilty guilty - and my kids are sick as hell. This stuff is TERRIBLE! And Iowa is hit with it bad, so I bet the Iowa borders aren't going to forgive a spread. It's just the common 24 hour stomach flu, but if you are a baby, elderly, or have a health condition, it can be worse. Comes on like a firestorm. This is what they've been talking about on the news with the cruise ships and at restaurants. Same stuff. Norovirus. WASH YOUR HANDS! WASH YOUR FOOD! WASH YOUR HANDS! STAY AWAY FROM SICK PEOPLE FOR 2 WEEKS! Okay, thanks. Quote:

Oh sweetie, spoken like a true grandma. Do Not feel guilty....you do not need this extra stress and I think you are just recovering from the last time. Your girl knows that you'd pay a heavy price right now...let the other grandma take this turn. Hugs.
And yes...it really scares me to go out in public places...like church in the morning. We pass the "Peace" and it's an invitation for germs...trying to stay healthy for our trip. It sounds like Iowa really got hit hard....does school start on Monday? |
Thanks ((Alffe)). Well you know...the guilt thing, it's hard to get rid of and I'll probably have it all day. I should probably call other grandma to see if she wants help. I know too well that being single and taking care of babies, no matter what age, is very hard. Sigh. *Note to self...call other grandma LATER.
Guilt, guilt, guilt...go away. And yes, ivy halls will fill up on Monday. Hi students! Welcome to flu-infested state! |
Oh and Alffe. Daughter said that a couple of the children in granddoody's babysitter's house had the stomach flu over Christmas vacation. So, who knows if he got it from them or on his way home from trip.
I feel like buying one of those damned white masks and wearing it when I walk out of my door to the outside world. I wonder what they'd think of at work if I arrived on Monday with one of those masks on? |
Remember my sick people rant??? My sister eventually got it and both my kids! Please be considerate of other's...wash your hands and don't purposely spread your germs.
No more guilt Doody. On the other hand, I think guilt is in a mother's DNA! |
hand sanatizers. i have bottles and bottles. keep them in my purse. in the car. and lil'monkey took a bunch for her classrooms.
grocery store carts are the worst. gross! have packets of the travel clorox cleanups. i won't touch a cart until i wipe the handle off. i even bought the kleenex that is supposed to help stop germ spreading. with hubby around hundreds of people daily...and lil'monkey at school...who knows what they might bringhome. we also have commercial size hand sanitizers at the club. plus somebody is disinfecting the equipent constantly. alffe...check the club you go to. find out what they use and how often they clean the equipment. especially the handles. they can really become gross in even an hour. doody...i hope thye get well soon. and try not to feel guilty. i'm sure they dont want you to get sick too. ((((hugs))) |
Oh I will Curious, There's a big spray bottle sitting there but I've never seen it used. I carry those wipes in my purse but you feel funny using them after shaking hands in church. Ack!

Doody, we have a whole box of those masks left over from when we swept up the bat s*** in the barn. If I can get up the nerve, I'm going to wear one on the plane (after we go thru security. :D )

a few years ago we had so many members of church getting sick. 2 of the elderly members passed away from complications.our pastor had us stop the usual handshake for awhile. we were asked to put our hands on shoulders. i really think it helps cut down the illness. i really hate to say it...but so many clubs aren't good about keeping the place clean. since we own ours...work out there...we keep it spotless. not only will people get sick from dirty equipment....but it ruins the upholstry and can damage the machine. it is expensive stuff! |
I may suggest that to our Pastor, Curious (:D had to backspace and add that common cause it looked like Pastor Curious)
Mr.Alffe gets so upset with the sweet lady that sits next to use...using the wadded up tissue on her nose, coughing into it and then putting it back in her pocket before shaking hands with us. He really isn't sincerely "passing the peace" at that point. :o LOLOL...now I have just about succeeded on talking myself out of going to church this morning. |
