Stupid question about drinking....

This is going to sound pathetic but I am curious to know...Can you drink with tysabri?

I am on so many meds right now that you cannot drink with and yes I realize I should not be basing my decision for new treatments on the ability to have a glass of wine, but dang it! I WANT A GLASS OF WINE!

When and if we do switch to Ty I know we will be pulling the plug on all of the other meds first. So I am curious...

I have a glass of wine, and my neuro says it's ok. I have two glasses at night, most of the time. :)

:D

Do you want the long winded scientific explanation or the nutshell version?

Basically yes-with qualification. IF you have no previous hepatic injury or insult (your liver has no problems) AND you don't develop any problems after your first infusion AND you have LFTs monitored every six months that show no problems, you shouldn't have a problem.

As with everything else to do with medications, it is urged that you speak with your physician for more information.
I've got the piles of studies if you feel the need to read.

My LFTs are fine, I don't have any liver complications and I drink as much as I want when I want, with my doctor's consent and full knowledge. I don't drink as much as I used to, but I think that comes with age.

It's a glass or two of wine or a couple of mixed drinks now and then, but there have been times when I am with friends...:Wave-Hello::yahoo::thud:;)

i'm not on T but i'm on a lot of meds. my drs have told me not to drink.
since my liver is processing all these meds alcohol could tip the scales into failure or damage. i'm just not willing to take the risk.

Well see, this is why I love you guys!

No I know better than to even think about it with the meds I am on. I did ask the neuro the last time I was there what would happen if I did so happen to go out for margarittas and she said that was fine as long as I didn't mind my heart not beating:eek: so I have been a good girl.

But I live in wine country! There are 3 wineries, and 2 breweries within 20 miles of my house. It's just not fair!

I remember my birthday before I was diagnosed, we spent a weekend at a B&B right outside of one of the wineries, and on my big day, we took a carriage ride around the winery while enjoying a bottle of wine. These are the things I miss. You know those pre-MS moments...
