Pro-Biotics or Pre-Biotics? What do they mean?

The more I read about the two, the more confused I get! Mrs D and others? Can you help?
My immune issues are now trying to affect my intestinal tract and I want to be as pro-active as possible to avoid this issue.
Any clarity on this stuff would sure be helpful! Thanks ahead of time! - j

Here is a good explanation about Pre-biotics:

I have noticed the premium pet foods now advertising Pre-Biotic ingredients on TV (Eukanuba)

Inulin is added to some foods. You'd have to read the labels to find it. It is in Stonyfield yogurts for example.

Probiotics are actual organisms which are supplied by capsule or food to colonize the bowel. There are just jillions of products in this category. I prefer to get mine in yogurt.
Probiotics are handy after a course of antibiotics. Almost all antibiotics upset the bowel flora. Many of the yogurts now are specializing in adding specific organisms... Dannon Immune and Activia are examples.
