I built my own min-greenhouse.

As you all know, I grow my own food. Sprouts actually. I SPROUT EVERYTHING.

But I've been doing the research and I found out I could turn my sprout rack into a min-greenhouse. And doing this, frees up the shelves so I can put my trays on it. I still sprout fenugreek in mason jars because they just don't sprout well in my trays. But I do EVERYTHING else in my trays.

So take a look at Melody's new toy. I named it and everything.

That's fantastic.

You're the greatest sprouter yet.

Hubby's not wanting to eat sprouts. He never would on salad bars either.

Can you post some good links to read for the benefits of eating spouts.

I would love to become a sprouter too. Your greenhouse is to die for.

No problem.

Here you go

I try to keep my body in an alkaline state at all times. Not an acidic. I read up on it and my body is MUCH less inflamed since I eat my sprouts.

My salads are to die for. Soooo colorful.

This way of eating took me YEARS to accomplish. But I'm glad I finally got there.

lol
Melody
P.S. GO FOR IT. Start with a simple jar and some seeds. Soak over night. Watch them sprout for 5 days.

You'll be in heaven.
lol

I'd met a neuropathic healer and she introduced to alkaline water. She closed up shop and I'm without the water and can tell a difference. Do you have filtered alkaline water?

The units sell for about $1,200. Pricy but I don't want the apparatus attached to my kitchen sink. it's an open floor plan. I was told I could install it under the sink and run a line up through the countertop. I am considering that.

Hi Melody,

Where do you get the seeds for your sprouts? I might want to try this. :)

Hi all!!

Don't think I could afford akaline water, but I do drink plain old tap water (and nothing else but a cup of coffee in the morning when I go out for breakfast.

Everything else is just plain water. Nothing carbonated. Don't like the fizz.

As for where I get my seeds.

Very easy.

I only buy broccoli seeds from Sprout House.com. They have the BEST price.

Everything else I get at Handypantry.com

I use their round green sprouting garden. Have two sets.

You can see them in my video.

I LOVE THE WAY THE SPROUTS GREEN UP and look in my salads.

Going to make one right now.

Take care you guys and HAPPY SPROUTING.

lol

Melody, this is too cool! Thanks for sharing. I bet it would do a fine job for other sprouting needs as well, like flowers in spring.

Probably so. I know people who grow seedlings in their greenhouses and then go outside and plant them in the garden.

Me?? I just sprout. Don't have a backyard, don't have a garden.

BUT I HAVE MY SPROUTHOUSE!!

I'm going to make another video in a few days WHEN ALL THE SEEDS HAVE SPROUTED. You will SCENES OF GREENERY like you've never seen.

God, I need to get a life.

lol

Clever?? lol

Nah, I just got scared enough about diabetes and organ failure (especially now that I've wated the new show "Three Rivers", which is all about transplants.

Holy Cow, one never knew about what goes on in a transplant hospital.

So I decided to take control of my health BY TAKING CONTROL OF WHAT I EAT.

I made sprouting a hobby, but I'm a neat freak and I don't like dirt or soil, so I knew I would have to do the hydroponic thing (using only water), like they do in Disney World. Years ago, I took an underground tour of Disney World where they grow all their food. Now this is over 30 years ago and I have no idea if they still grow their food this way.

But I remember being in a boat ride that took you through the underground growing menageri and all I saw were vegetables, and stuff UNDER WATER. since I never forgot that image, I remembered saying to myself "wow, that's cool, someday I'll grow stuff with water".

Well, flash forward 30 years, I went online, discovered sprouting AND I MEAN I DISCOVERED SPROUTING, and the benefits, and the ease, and I needed SOMETHING to focus on (since our son is not in our lives), and I could have let that either destroy me, or I could make it work for me.

Not an easy task. I know MANY people who think I should have shot myself or walked around like a dead person, BUT WHY ON EARTH SHOULD I DO THAT.

I have Alan to take care of, and I have ME to take care of. I've spoken to my doctors who think I'm a hoot and who have said to me "I wish more of my patients would eat like you eat".

So when I started doing the sprouts thing with the trays and the mason jars, then I got the sprout rack, then I watched a youtube video on mini-greenhouses and I said 'wow, why not make a place in my kitchen for ALL MY SPROUTS). And the trays are so much easier than taking the mason jars over to the sink, rinsing and draining. I used to have 20 MASON JARS going at one time, and I would be in my kitchen every evening, doing the rinsing and the draining.

Now I can use trays (and they don't have to be the round green trays, I've also built my own trays). and I just take my bottle mister, to which I've added drops of Liquid Kelp, and I just mist mist mist two or three times a day (depending on the heat of my kitchen).

Best thing I ever did.

The sign just makes it adorable, and it lifts my spirits. And believe me, between dealing with Alan's feet, and the upcoming holidays, I need ALL THE UPLIFTING I can get.

It's a neat hobby, it feeds us, AND IT'S GOOD FOR THE BODY.

That's enough for me.

And my diabetes isn't complaining either.

lol

Thanks hon.

Melody
P.S. Now if only I could get that darn dsl wall filter off of my kitchen phone. lol
