thinking about spinal cord stimulation
 

i have had rsd for 6 years now. i am now sixteen years old. it started in my right lower leg and now has spread to both legs and up my back. i have failed many other treatments and now my new doctor. dr.wallace from ucsd. wants to try a spinal cord stimulator. i have heard so many different pros and cons. has anybody had one? anybody from san diego?

I'm soooo sorry you have had to deal with RSD at such a young age.

Ask your doctor to have the company that he uses for the SCS to show you a vidoe and watch it with your parents. It will cover the procedure and what to expect. It has helped some of us and it has not helped others.

You will have it put in as a trial for approx. 5 days then you can have it implanted or you don't have to have it implanted.

You can have it removed if it turns out not to be right for you. I had mine removed after 3years. It wasn't helping anymore and my doctors were in agreement to have it removed.

will i know instantly on the table during the trail? my doctor said i would feel the relieve instantly. did you? thank you for such a quick reply.

Its worth a try,,but if your no longer in SMP,,and your in SIP,,It can aggravate the rsd and make it worse,,Im sure your dr and you are aware of this,,,and Im hearing ,that they do a trial[like a week] b4 they actually really hook it up deep,to see how your responding to it,,,Good luck to you,,keep us posted,,,Its like a coin toss,,Ive read where it helps some but hinders others,,,,,,,,,,,bobber
