can someone please help!

hello. i am a 20 year old male. i noticed 10 months ago my erections were getting weaker. they slowly declined in strength. 3 months ago i had a virus and i went completely impotent for a week. i was ok for a while, then the decline continued. i had bloodwork done and the only thing that really jumps out is my thyroid. these are my lab results:

TSH- 4.02 (0.34-4.82 uIU/mL)

Thyroid Perox AutoAB 639 (<35 IU/mL)
T3 Total 143 (87-167 ng/dL)
T4 Total 7.7 (4.7-13.3 ug/dL)
Free T4 1.06 (0.89-1.76 ng/dL)
Free T3 3.45 (2.3-4.2 pg/mL)

DHEA Sulfate 237 18-29 years old (110-510mcg/dL)
Vit D, 25 hydroxy 25 (30-100ng/mL)
testosterone- 418 (200-800)

my tsh a few weeks prior to this at 6. the endo i saw looked at these results and said your back in range. he said we dont treat unless tsh is at 10.

my only syptom is very weak erections. little low on the sex drivev to. can my thyroid be doing this? currently i am taking vit d.

if anyone can please help on what to do and whats going on i would greatly appreciate it please. thank you.

Hi there gurjas, and welcome to NeuroTalk.

Unfortunately I can't help with the questions that you have, so I hope some-one else will chime in soon.

We do have a Men's Health Forum here as well, but it's been rather quiet recently. That happens with some of our forums..... they tend to go quiet for a while, then they pick up again. Here's the direct link in case you didn't see it.

Maybe a post from you is just what it needs to get our male members posting again. :)

Gurjas,

Find yourself another doctor or try to see an endocrinologist.

Your TSH is low (when talking TSH talk the inverse so 4 is considered low and1 is considered high). Your doc is totally wrong when he says treating at 10. The new range is to treat when above 3.5.

Hoever your Free T4 looks ok and your Free T3 looks good. Both of these are the better measures of thyroid function.

However your TPO antibodies are elevated which could indicate Hashimotos thyroiditis which can be caused or started by a virus.

My thyroid issues started not long after a viral illness as well.

If you can get a book called Stop the Thyroid Madness. Its written by patiens and a really good book on how to educate yourself on thryoid issues.

Thyroid issues can cause low sex drive although I am not sure if it can cause issues with erections.

Your vitamin D is low. Be sure you are suplementing with vitamin d3 not d2.

Good luck

thank you for the help. im starting with a saliva test to see if removing gluten may help, and also to see if my adrenal glands are impacted yet.
