transverse myelitis

Hi all!

I'm new to everything - forums, message boards, horrible diseases. I may be at the wrong place - let me know if I am!!

I have incomplete transverse myelitis, sjogrens synd., neck bone spurs, diabetes, asthma, and a heart murmur. I am having trouble between my neuro and rheum getting treatment. I am wondering if anyone has experienced or heard of TM being caused by autoimmune diseases?

Thanks for your help.

Welcome,

Hi Chele,
It's Billye from the Sjogren's forum. I hope you get some answers. Some days it's slow. Check back often. I usually check the forums in the morning and in the evening. Some people only check it once a day.

Sorry, I've got no answer for you, Chele, Just wanted to make you welcome. I usually post on the myasthenia gravis forum, and the gluten sensitivity/celiac forum. But I peek into this one since I had Grave's disease, and now have underactive thyroid.
I can certainly sympathize with your problems about getting treatment. Seems like when you go to several specialists, the last thing they want to do is cooperate in your treatment. What we need is a multi-specialty, patient oriented coordinator to coordinate all of the different doctors we see.
You're doing one of the best things you can for yourself by doing the research and trying to come up with some answers. If I run across any info, I'll definitely post it for you.
Hugs,

Thanks Loisba. I appreciate you peeking in!!

I'm just going to keep plucking away. I get overwhelmed easily - life is sure not like it used to be. Before this all hit I could multi-task with the best. I was the office manager for 4 psychologists, which means I was doing everything!! Don't miss the place, but I sure do miss my mind!!

Hugs back to you and blessings for your year!

Don't talk to me about multi-tasking! My days of that are long gone. Now I find that when I've got too many things going on in my life, I start to forget things, even though I'm only trying to do them one at a time. Too much stress can cause me some serious brain fog.
Hugs,

transverse Myelitis

Oh, that's a rough one Chele. Yes, I have seen Lupus patients with that. What happens is their spinal cord gets inflamed from the lupus and the rest is history. We have to remember that Lupus can strick any system or organ we have. Even if the doctor says it is not from your Lupus, he is probably tellingyou on the other hand, that we really don't know. So, instead of going for a rhyme or a reason, get the treatment. You can be very miserable if not treated right away.

Hiya, Chele, yep, I believe that I saw something about that in something I read on the Transverse Myelitis Association site. If you google that, you'll find it right away. There are a number of really good articles about TM there, mostly written in doctorese, but with a good medical dictionary if you don't know the lingo, you can get through most of it.
